the other one that won't work with their DVD machine - basically she said they're not getting any more codes and, as theirs is a DVD recorder, it won't work anyway.
I have a DVD recorder/video combi, so I wonder if that makes mine one that won't work!. I have emailed them 3 times now but have had no reply still. I'll have to try phoning them I guess. How long do you have to try to get through and be on hold? just so I can work out how long to make sure I have available :)

One thing I did discover (for those people having remote problems) - is that it is possible to get it working when you have set your dvd remote to something other than the standard. What I mean here is that I've got a Panasonic DVD recorder and a Panasonic player in the same room. As a result I had to change the remote control over to "remote 3" for the recorder. The Bubble console worked correctly with it, all be it at a code that was about 3rd from last in the list.

To those that are having problems it might be worth trying that - if your DVD player supports that capability.
They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.

To be fair, it didn't take long to be put through - just that the first time I tried was "lunchtime" (just before 2pm) and the next time I tried was Friday afternoon (half day closing!). When I did get through on a morning, I just asked for customer services (as they were the ones who were supposed to ring me back the first time) and got put straight through. It did sound like "customer services" was just one person though. When I asked about additional codes and the "extra cartridge of codes" you could apply for to upgrade your machine, she said that she'd got the cartridge and downloaded all the codes off it, so that she could give them out individually. As they were no longer supporting the machine, they wouldn't be testing any more DVD's, and there was some problem with DVD recorders as they had "extras" on their remotes that the bubble couldn't cope with?

She didn't say that ALL dvd recorders wouldn't work, just most of them.

So basically, one of mine has gone back - the one that gave up completely, and my sister has the "working" one, but it won't work on her DVD machine, only in play-away mode. As she also got a leappad for Christmas, I can't see her getting much use out of it.
  • We've had no luck with ours either, have emailed a couple of times since christmas, no reply and now the batteries have run out trying to get it set up!

Poor 2 year old keeps pointing to 'bubble' and saying 'broken'.

Contemplated buying a new DVD player but so many of you are having probs I don't think it's worthwhile.

Have still got half a dozen boxed games that will no doubt get listed on eBay to recoup some of the wasted money. Thank god she got so many other pressies to keep her occupied!

What a dud, no wonder they were so cheap......

It's a shame you are all having problems with it. My 2yo boy loves it. He has all the games but we're just playing Teletubbies at the mo. He's always coming up to me asking for it. I'm really pleased as he's such a telly addict that he's asking for something else. I know it's still tv related but at least he's being something active with the telly.

I've read the increasing number of problem posts with some concern and it was with no small trepidation that I finally resolved to get this out and attempt to set it up - its been delayed because there were too many Xmas presents.

I read the QS guide then DVD intro then inserted batteries and switched on fully expecting a battle for a code that worked but fortunately it set up and worked immediately. I tried the enclosed Teletubbies game and it seems OK.

I can foresee problems as the transitions aren't as fast as a toddler would like them to be (leading to much button pressing I imagine) and often it seems you have to restart to get back to a menu rather than be able to do it via the console, or am I missing something?

"Away play" seems very limited or again am I missing something? Taking Teletubbies as an example on the first page there is a rainbow or counting icon and pressing either doesn't seem to result in any further action beyond the console reciting the name.

So setup achieved but I'll reserve judgement on the content until I introduce it to my little one tomorrow. If anyone has hints on the games or use of the console please post them!

You just forward and forward and eventually you get to the main menu again.
