Returned to the South, meh, can I go north again now?
Had a really nice few days with my family and a night with the boys family - finally met his mum....scary, lol, luckily his mums as lovely as the rest of the family and fingers crossed liked me. Not that it'd make much difference I'm keeping the boy coz he can be lovely when he's not being a stinky boy. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Just made arrangements to view an apartment tomorrow, its nice and close to where we both work at the moment and a couple of minutes walk from the train station which is on a direct line to where the boy will be working from next autumn. Good for me too - means I have access to new towns to mystery shop without taking the car out more than necessary and I can walk to work on the days when I don't feel too lazy. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Good luck with the viewing, I hope it's a palace with an extremely small rental charge. Would you have the option of getting rid of the car and getting a railcard instead?DFD: 23/12/20100

Probably but I would be very reluctant to get rid of Dory since she was a gift (grandparent had some investments mature and splashed out on her kids and grandkids...the inheritance is much depleted, lol). But tbh give the hours I work relying on the trains wouldn't be a great plan, it's only a 2 mile walk from work to the train station but if we have a problem and I'm late getting out I'd miss the last train - one of the issues with being the responsible grown up at closing time I guess. But its all stuff we can weigh up once we decide where to live - hisself keeps talking about getting rid of his car/getting a new one, so at a push we'd be more likely to get rid of his 6 year old automatic rather than my 2 year old manual tin box.
As for the costs sadly no, but its a reasonable size and has parking which for apartments/flats round here is rare within walking distance of the station.
Just checked my credit reports and have a nice list of pretty green boxes - except the one for being on the electoral roll, but I *think* my Dad said he was registering me for a postal vote when the next set of paper work comes round - not been registered for a few years apparently due to a mix up with both my parents thinking I was registered at the others address. But as soon as we've got our own place I'll register there to solve the dilemma. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Can you not register where you are living now? I didn't wait for my parents to register me as if I had i'd still be waiting, so I just went into the civic centre with my ID and filled out the forms myself. They didn't ask many questions and were fine about it.DFD: 23/12/20100

If I register at the house I live in now it'd mean my landlady paying full CT, as at the moment she's on a reduced rate as shes the sole 'adult' living there - its her and her three kids, although the eldest turns 18 this year theyve stayed in full time education and are planning to escape to uni in summer.
Dad has all the details he needs after I threw a fairly major strop over not having been able to vote in summer - I still have no clue why he thought I was registered at Mums house since I'd always lived with him and my sister with my mum.
On the up side the flat we looked at today was for the money much bigger than we expected, the master bedroom was huge, living room and second bedroom both reasonable sized but had looked quite small in the photos. We can't do anything else about it now til Tuesday when the agents reopen but are fairly sure we'll take it unless one of the other agencies we got in touch with this week bothers their butts to get in touch before we can call them to pay the holding deposit. Just need to start looking at things like beds, mattresses and other general furnishings....It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Things still to get furniture wise
Mattress
Sofa/s - can't start looking til we've got the flat and can measure up
Decent knife set
Slow cooker
Possible toaster and kettle (neither of us can remember if we already have one in a box somewhere)
I've got cutlery and some mismatched dinner sets, mugs and some glasses at home along with assorted baking sheets and pans which I'll need to go home to get when we move in.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Right new year so time for another look at the numbers.
Credit card balance £1174.19 = 31 months to pay off
But I intend to use my overtime from last month to reduce this so in the next couple of days I'll be paying £100 min off the balance, it's gone up slightly from my last post as I bought the bedframe using the card, I'm not going to make any further overpayments to it this month as I suspect taking on the flat (fingers crossed) is going to wipe out pretty much all of my money spare or otherwise. But I do still want to try and get it paid off before the end of 2011, this means assuming I make no further purchases on it I have to pay off at least £110 a month, which is £65 more than my current monthly payment. Course like every good mse'r I am looking for a balance transfer card - although I'll keep the egg for spending thanks to its cashback I'll just make more of an effort to get it paid off each month!
But I have started booking a few very local mystery shops, again don't want to commit to travelling too far afield as my days off when we do start to move will be dedicated to actually getting all my stuff packed and moved asap so I don't have to keep paying rent here too - course that means one of my priorities is to make sure we can get internet access turned on quicklyIt’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

As its a common theme at this time of year I admit to having been doing some decluttering this afternoon - half of the large box of things for the recycling bin were put out earlier, unfortunately I then undid all the good work by bringing in my dive kit from the boot of my car - mind you that should all fit in to one large bag, so am not too sure why I actually have three carrier bags, two small sports bags and the large wheely dive bag.....
I also 'treated' myself to a set of Sabatier knives from tesco - the boy wouldnt let me take them out of the car when we went in to his room for dinner....It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
