none of this is stated on the pack ,other than examples given of calculator, torch, remote, although not limited to these. they still leaked in my remote anyway.0

It's common sense that you can't put normal batteries, of any kind, not just Asda Smart Price, in a cordles phone. It will clearly state this in the manual for your phone. Still your fault.
Don't know what it says in the manual for your speakers.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
am I really nerdy for wanting to point out that high pH is alkali not acid????
Seriously I agree it's worth pointing it out to Asda and I hope you get something but definitely taje the advice to calm down or you'll come across as a manic compo seeker. You can only get compensated for what has happened to you....not what might have happened if....0 -
and yet its ok they leak in my tv remote?!!!! clearly faulty batteries regardless of my uses for them0

are you sure you have put the batteries in the right way round?loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

i think some of the above posters are missing the point that they leaked with in 24 hours of using. We are not talking about a month of use in a high capacity appliance, Just a day
That is a very small amount of time for a battery to leak in. I would guess the battery was A) made poorlystored in unsuitble conditions.
Either is ASDA/manufacturer responsability and not the OP's0 -

There is no real reason (other than cost) why you couldn't use normal batteries in a cordless phone, the problem would only arise if you subsequently placed the cordless phone into it's charging cradle.====0 -

Not if the OP put the batteries in a device that required rechargable batteries!0
