which game console should i get next

Out of the next gen consoles which one should i get, i want to play online via wifi also i am going to be hooking up my console to a HDTV.

I understand the wii will be for free to play online, however its resolution only goes up to 420p i think, would this look blurry on my HDTV which can display 720p. i tried connecting my ps2 to my HDTV but it was unplayable due to it being so burry. I read somewhere that a full wii controller will cost £43

xbox 360, i will need version with the hard drive so thats £279 also i will need to purchase a wifi adapter for £60 i think. How much is the xbox live gold service a year?, also the xbox 360 wireless pads require batteries to be replaced

And the PS3, the high end model will come with built in wifi, but im not sure if the games will be for free to play online, however i heard that the games company will charge for online and not sony, and most games will be free to play online, but im not sure.

i just dont know what console to go for

i would personally go for the ps3 even though there is another delay until march 2007
  • im starting to sway towards PS3, because of the recharchable controllers and metal gear solid 4. also all models come with HDMI as standard and in japan theres been a price cut so it could happen in the uk as well.

does anyone know the price for ps3 in pounds, i belive its 599 euros for the top model.

Also would like to hear from 360 owners about there online experiences and how much its cost them

I personally think the Wii will be the one to get. It'll all depend upon the controller and how it feels though. It looks set to be affordable, and great fun. I wouldn't worry about HD too much, the games look very cartoony anyway.

I've got a 360. It's cost me about £380 so far for the Premium, a few games and a second controller. By the time the PS3 comes out the platform should have matured and have a good selection of games. Plus the modding community will have made even further progress by then.

The online experience is the best out there. There's nothing that can yet compete with Xbox Live. I picked up a years subscription nice and cheap for under £20.

The 360 controllers have play and charge kits. You can buy one for about £12. When the battery runs out, just hook up the USB cable, it'll charge and you'll still be able to play. When you switch it off, it'll even remain in a partially powered on mode until it has finished charging the controller.

I personally won't be going for a PS3. The cost is one thing that puts me off. Plus it doesn't yet have anything like Xbox Live. And by the time it does come out I'm sure both the Wii and 360 will drop in price. It'll be interesting to see what games come out given that Sony have lost quite a few exclusive developers.

One of my brothers is a manager of a Gamestation shop. He said that in November, they are expecting the price of the XBox Premium to come down to £229.99 (he told me to hold off for a little while if I wanted to buy one). This will include changes to the internal cooling system of these boxes.

He also mentioned a games deal that will see a much bigger range of titles for the XBox.

if the 360 goes down to £229 then i might buy it, but £60 for wifi adapter is a bit expensive, however if the adapter went down to something like £30 il prob buy the 360. The trailer for halo 3 and gears of war look amazing.

the HDTV problem i expereinced with ps2 was that it was so blurry that after 10 mins i had to stop playing because of eye strain. but im sure nintendo will make the wii produce a decent picture on a HDTV.

£20 seems cheap, how did you get a bargain like that

I was going to purchase the wifi adapter but cannot justify spending £60 on the adapter when the free ethernet cable does exactly the same thing apart from having an extra wire in the room

I will probably get a PS3 once it has been out for a while and it gets some decent games on it as the majority of games are released on the 360 also apart from a few exclusive titles like MGS.

Have heard also that the PS3 will not see pro evo 6 or the new WWE wrestling game until at least the end of 2007 as the companies have not had time to develop the games

You will find that the normal xbox live subscriptions work on the 360 as I remember a Forza motorsport package was about £25 - £30 including 12 month subscription which worked on the 360.

thier are plenty on ebay, you may be lucky to get one cheap

At the moment play.com have a 12 month gold subscription for £35 which includes 1000 free marketplace points which will allow you to purchase extra multiplayer levels etc...

You can pick it up for nearer £50 these days. It is expensive, but works flawlessy. For a typical pc adapter you'll pay around £30-40 just for a wireless super-g so it's not all that bad.

I think it was either a misprice, or a deal that was on.

I would say a wii, but you would get laughed at going into game asking "I would like to register my interest for the wii" meaning preorder to you and me.
