I like this company http://www.tickseed.co.uk/stocking-fillers-party-bag-toys-and-gifts-under-1-pound-3169-0.html for party bags stuff. Very helpful company and delivery prompt and efficient.

Thanks for the link, I've had a quick look and think I'll end up spending this evening browsing.
Thanks for that link, will help with advent calendar.

Thanks for the idea, it hadn't dawned on me to look for things for their advent calendars, this will be better than me remembering on 30th of November like last year :o

We are also planning to make our own crackers this Christmas, I'm also going to look for bits for them.

Looks like I need to visit the loft to measure the drawers and work out how much room will be inside the crackers. At this rate I may be organised before Christmas and not spend the whole time stressed to my eyeballs.

Save your time don't wrap the books.

I think a book (or similar) and a slice of cake is the way to go. I hate all the plastic rubbish that is put in party bags.

I to hate the plastic tat that you get in party bags, the kids never really play with it either, this year I bought wholesale toys, worked out really cheap and each kiddy ended up with a bubble gun and set of bubbles. Have done the books before, little craft bags once and have done Tesco's basic colouring books with tesco basic crayons when they were really young. You are laying on the party and food so no need to go OTT. Anything is acceptable, but I prefer to go for something I think they may atleast play with for a while rather than bits and pieces of tat.
  • Hi,
I don't know what age your child is or how many you need to buy for but one idea that I have used is to buy cheap white mugs or plastic champagne flutes and fill with sweets and wrap in clear plastic and ribbon.
Buy some glitter gel pens and you and your child can spend a lovely afternoon decorating with swirls etc and writing each childs name on the individual cup.
Then the container is the gift itself.
You can buy cheap mugs/plastic glasses from poundland or supermarket basics ranges from 50p-£1. Clear wrap from florists or card shops like Clintons (by the metre), hobbycraft by the roll. Or recycled from bouquets if you keep hold of the wrappings like me!
It works nicely for Teacher gifts at xmas or end of term too.
    Good luck!

  • I don't know how old your child is but for my ds's 2nd birthday I wanted to do something a bit different with his party bags. Because the children were too young really for party games I thought I would make the party bags into a game. I filled a large plastic storage box full of shredded paper. I bought toys from sainsburys when they were half price (an itng set of small plastic characters, tub of metal cars, small board book set) I wrapped all the characters, cars, books seperatly and then put them in the box hidden with the paper like a lucky dip. I gave them each a party bag and they had to dig into the box to fond the gift! ..... Well there was shredded paper EVERYWHERE in my house!!! But the children had so much fun throwing the paper around. The girls liked looking for the gifts but the boys just liked the paper. My mates still talk about how much fun the kids had with it all!
So if you don't mind clearing up the mess after it adds to the fun :D

Glad I started this thread - lots of good ideas :D

The kids will range from 2 yrs to 5 yrs and it's not going to be at my house but at a play centre (am budgeting for 20 kids don't have room for that number of kids!) so whilst I love the idea of a lucky dip I am not so sure the play centre will ;)

Lol no don't think they would be too impressed! Are you sure the play centre are not providing party bags or something instead of? My ds has been to 2 parties at different play centres. One he had a Foil balloon to take home and at the other one they were given a party bag (they were both as part of the party package).

We are also not having ds's birthday party at home this year! Although my mates have already asked if I will be taking the shredded paper to the party venue!! Lol! I said I better not :rotfl:
