Not deliberately....that little bit (0.155kg) was £1.24, £7.99 per kg. :eek:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Yes, I'm back! Was quite busy at work today so havn't had a chance to check in.jobbingmusician wrote:Yes, it's a basic white sauce. But it will make it tastier if you fry off the bacon and leeks and add the flour to that, rather than just starting with flour in your pan.
Right, well I can do roux but my recipe for roux sauce is 45g butter, 45g plain flour and 285ml milk... So do I cook the leeks and bacon in butter rather than oil (i'm sure I saw olive oil mentioned earlier) and if I use butter how will I know how much is left in the pan after taking the leeks and bacon out before I add my flour?
I have my shopping list ready but I think Mr BE is being a bit previous, I have an obsession with sell by dates so will go on Wednesday night to get the stuff I need. So far I have:
Proper butter for the pastry (normallly use half fat spreadable butter).
Chicken breasts
Leeks
Smoked bacon
Baking bean thingies
Greaseproof paper
Am also going to get some potatoes and make some roasties, my Aunt Bessie has made me a batch of yorkies already so it would be rude not to use them and I think sweetcorn would be nice with my pie0 -

Chicken BB 29th, so that'll be ok. I was going to get it on Thursday if it wasn't fresh enough.tigs78 wrote:Am also going to get some potatoes and make some roasties, my Aunt Bessie has made me a batch of yorkies already so it would be rude not to use them and I think sweetcorn would be nice with my pie
