I fear there will be a backlash against BR's thanks to this article - watch for the trolls!!
Doubt it.
Surely even the most brain dead tabloid reader couldn't mistake the sheer idiocy there?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

she may have gone BR by now if its an old story. Wonder what happened?0

Kerry - what did they say when you phoned them?
I fear there will be a backlash against BR's thanks to this article - watch for the trolls!!
Also,I have already had a falling out with someone who I used to think of as a friend over going BR, this will just help to make her feel all the more vindicated.
I hope that this lady gets a nasty shock when/if she does go BR, and I hope that it is made public, in a ooops I got it wrong and look at me now kind of way.
They wanted a complaint in writing...and boy are they getting one....also forwarded to the press complaints commission!0 -
I hope you are right Fermi, but given the remarks on that story from some of the readers I'm not so sure.0

Wish I hadn't stumbled upon this and read the article now, am absolutely:mad:.
I realise that it is wrong to judge people and the choices they make in life but what a stupid woman, as someone who was v.v. seriously on the verge of BR we opted to tough it out and have over the past 7 years lived the lives of absolute bear minimum with two children (don't want sympathy it was our own fault, debt built up after my wages dropped follow Mat leave) and WE PAID BACK what we owed and have 3 more DMP payments to go see sig.
People who run up huge debts like this should not be allowed to go BR, they should be made to tough it out, and if The Sun have paid her for the article they are even bigger idiots than I thought.
Am soo :mad::mad: now off for a :coffee: to calm down.:j DEBT FREE FROM 01/01/11 :j

Tbh the One Show article a few weeks ago made me feel more angry, theres always gonna be women (and men) like this. The way the media portrays Kerry Katona's bankruptcy (seemingly always on holiday / new home / new car / new clothes / etc) doesn't help. According to this (dated April 2010) she still has her BO in place (theres probably a whole department in place to deal with her in the insolvency service).
There needs to be a lot more money education done in schools to educate the credit card holders of the future just what it really means to go BR. I wish I had had that education.0 -
Is the sun a real newspaper? Yep I just read that - she seems proud of it! You do realise that this will be her one achievement in life - her one claim to fame - her Xfactor moment.
She'll be presenting on tv next...0 -
Still feel extremely angry that this has even made it into print-the woman who wrote the article seemed to think it was perfectly OK to show BR in this light....it is about time somebody printed a factual article on BR-the panic before you file, the bailiffs, the debt collectors, the sleepless nights worrying where you will live with your children, how you will pay your council tax or gas bill and where the next meal is coming from-or your desperate attempts to keep your head above water before the shame of admitting to everyone you know you cant cope anymore....the walk of shame into court, the nail biting wait until the Official Receiver interview, the worry throughout the BR that you will get a BRO-and instead of this they write an article about some complete tool who thinks that BR is a way to buy Chanel and jetset around the world....makes my stomach turn that she will get her debts written off...and worse she has been given her xfactor moment to GLOAT about it in a double page spread!!!!!
VERY angry, sorry

I am too kerry, it just isn't on, and the other thing that really got my goat was these lines:
"Figures released by the Insolvency Service also show that the biggest culprits are women aged 25 to 44.
Experts are putting the rise down to "irresponsible spending" of women trying to copy glamorous celebrity lifestyles and seeing bankruptcy as a "quick fix"."
Erm I beg your pardon?????!!!! culprits? irresponsible spending?? lump us all in the same boat would you? how very dare they. I would very much like to sit down and have a little chat with some of these so called experts.
I most certainly did not try and emulate a so called glamorous lifestyle, one of dh's credit cards had been used solely to pay for our weekly shops as we had no other means of putting food on the table.
I am going to complain to the Sun about it, but when I have calmed down enough to write a coherent letter rather than a rant!!0
