There will always be plenty of idiots like that. Just as there are plenty of "disabled" who fraudulently claim, and plenty of single mums who pop out babies solely for benefits and council houses and plenty of businessmen who have a clever accountant and off-shore bank accounts for tax avoidance.

It's annoying when you get lumped in a group though. Media and society seem to prefer to hound groups rather than the individual.

Anyway - the individual here. Silly girl. Lets hope she learns her lesson and doesn't get in the same predicatment again.

    words escape me.

Lets hope that her bank manager, the courts and the insolvency service are watching out for this one, has no one told her that kerry Katona has had her discharged suspended and so is not a case of showing how easy it is. I suspect that in kerrys case she will end up paying back everything that is owed plus substantial costs. Lets hope the OR that gets this person has a good turn out of her property to dell all those designer goods

well at least we all know its not like that
I know that most people will have struggled for years before coming to what seems like the end and realising BR was only option left

There will always be people who "play" the system - hopefully 5years of no credit and no designer spending will soon calm them down and the reality will be that bit more painful - the rest of us aren't hit so hard as we've already lived the tough life

Terrible, just gives honest br's a bad name, and she clearly thinks that she can go BR get discharged and get credit all over again!!

And read the case study, she says you can only have a cash bank account and not have a debit card!!!! Which we all know is not quite true - where do they find these people?!!

I was just coming on here to start a thread about this but Mib beat me to it. I found the article interesting for two reasons:

    1) I worry about every minor detail about going BR and i havent even managed to do it yet. I worry that the judge will turn me down, i worry that the OR will drag me over the coals because I bought a hoover, kettle and bedding on my catalogue account when i probably shouldnt have but the kettle and vac broke down - yes bloody (sorry) household items esential at that. Not designer clothes and the like. I worry that i will get a bro i worry that i will loose my car, and my son goes to school 20 miles away. I worry about everything.

    2) This person, not only spends all that money on non-essentail items, which she admits she has done. She has spent nearly 100,000 yes 100,000 on luxury items, clothes 20,000 on holidays. But she doesnt care. She had no intention on paying it back.

Lastly, i would like to say that if someone like this does all of this and doesnt worry (and she cant be the only person in this country who is doing this, I bet there are hundreds) why do I and probably all of you who are reading my waffling get so worked up about this?

There have been a couple of threads over the past few days on here where people have maybe done something wrong and not intentionnally and there they are worrying about BRO's, prosecution etc. It maybe makes me realise that I going round in circles. I had no idea until i first came on here that i could go BR. Only a couple of months earlier my darling and very supportive husband paid off a few debts for me to help me out. I had 3000.00 awarded to me and i paid off a credit card - this is all before i knew i could go br whereas this bloody woman wouldnt have done that and what will happen to her? She would have probably spent 3000.00 on another handbag.

SERIOUSLY WHAT WILL HAPPEN. She will probably get A BRO. Will she care? Will she do it again?

Sorry rant over, but i am not happy today.

We get worked up lilibet because we are not like that, because we have tried hard to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads.

This woman clearly has no scruples, it says she spent £4500 on a coat!!!!! I don't think I have ever spent that much money on one thing, not even a whole kitchen!!

She will most certainly get a BRO/BRU at the very least I would think.... they can also suspend her discharge date, and I think if they feel she has been wilful and spent the money knowing full well she wouldn't be able to pay it back and with the sole aim that she would spend spend spend and then go BR then jail can be an option.

I too am angry at this, and would like to get hold of her and give her a good shake, BR's have a bad enough name as it is without the likes of that stupid little girl going out and doing things like this

Oh and I love the way she says I'll start again after discharge!! Erm, I don't think you will.

:mad::mad::mad: Was just going to post, I am so angry about this article-I actually phoned the sun and told them how I felt, and also the inaccuracies in the case study....apparently we cant pay for anything on debit cards now  Its bad enough going BR without ridiculous stories like this making a double page spread, how irresponsible to run the story, how do they think that makes genuine BRs look, as if we are all hoarding designer clothes and bags-well some of us werent irresponsible-the sun should look here and see the genuine cases-in fact Martin should look at that article and defend the posters on his BR forum who will inevitably be affected by this article by stigma of association.....I am SOOOOO ANGRY!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Oh and I hope the office who would be dealing with this stupid excuse for a woman's BR read that article and deal with her BR accordingly....ie a 10 year BRO

This woman makes me angry. A lot of people are suffering to provide food and and a decent shelter for their family and this woman has the audacity to say that she splurges now because she can just file BK after?!

I used to have an employee who had to do 3 jobs just so she can provide for her child and meet the card payments. I've seen how difficult it was for her but I didn't once hear her say that she is opting for BK. Although she has almost maxed out her 2 CC's when her husband left her and she didn't have a job back then nor a savings. The cards kept them from becoming homeless, but she got so deep in debt. But she is slowly climbing herself out of the debt by sleeping and resting less and working more, and yet this woman can just spend anyway she wants???!!! Really infuriating.

I hope the government will apply stricter measures in approving BK petitions.

I'm sure that the OR office who covers Finchley already has the article printed ready to go into her file.

I'm guessing that she will be looking at a BRO for incurring credit with no reasonable prospect of repayment, and they might also consider extravagance (if the figures for clothes, clubbing and holidays are true).
