If they are really dry - try a teaspoon of salt/sugar in a tablespoon of olive oil - very moisturising and gets rid of the dead, dry skin.

That's a good plan - and if you have a pair of cotton gloves around, you can slather the oil or lots of handcream on afterwards and leave it on overnight. The gloves save oil on duvet etc!
