Thanks to everyone who helped me out on this issue (unfortunately that doesn't include you mr.savage).

To update I returned the cage for a full refund; part of it also broke 2 days ago so it was failing on the quality front also.

It wasn't a cheap cage it cost £40. And it's quite roomy...for a little bird.....

I have had the bird a few days, it's still acclimatizing so the advice is not to let it out of it's cage for a week.

A agree with above poster. Its a cage its will be too small birds are ment to fly around not sit couped up in cage. Also if its a buggy they need there own kind other wise they go bonkers. My old childminders used to breed all kinds of different birds. So I'm not unknowing on this subject. Unless you can get an outside avery(is that the correct spelling) Cages are just wrong.

you even quoted the part where OP said they were acclimatising it for a week before letting it fly free.... (insert roll eye smiley here)

I presume you are referring to Budgie's BTW as I don't think OP is keeping 4 wheeled perambulators in a cage, in which case although a Budgie does prefer a bit of company it will still be quite content on its own. The idea that it will go "bonkers" is preposterous :rotfl:
