I don't wish to seem offensive but..
Wrong attitude im afraid.... If your road wheel was making a strange noise, then suddenly stopped, would you wait until it came off and sent you hurtling into a bus stop full of children??
If there's something wrong, it's ALWAYS cheaper and SAFER to get it sorted out BEFORE it turns serious.
You have an opportunity to solve it (at low cost) before it leaves you stranded, but when you have to call out the AA man it will end up costing a small fortune.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Actually on Zafiras, the ECU light is notorious for lighting for no apparent reason. I've had instances when I've booked the car to go in to be checked and the light mysteriously disappeared. When I took it to the dealer they confirmed that it's a common random problem on Vauxhalls. The man without a signature.0 -
^^ There has to be a reason.... The ECU won't flag a minor error until it see's that same error 3 times within a space of a several seconds, so in fact when you see the light on the dash it's already happened 3 or more times.
ECU's pick up hundreds of tiny error's everytime you run your car, but the chances of picking up the same one 3 times are extremely slim unless there is actually a problem.
Now, it may simply be an intermittent problem like a loose wire or a corroded connector block, but something has definitely been spotted by the ECU.
Thankfully however the ECU will also record what has gone wrong, so diagnosis shouldn't be too difficult for a good auto electrician. Unfortunately (dealerships are worst for this) garages rely on the machines too much for diagnosis rather than paying experienced staff.
Anyway, all im saying is that people let minor faults carry on without investigation, often because of "well it past it's MOT, so it must be perfectly ok" mentality.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

As well as the swirl flap, as above you should also be concerned about the flux capacitor. Did the mechanics say anything about that? As there's usually a problem there too if the swirl flap is damaged. Best get it checked out asap.0

I did get it checked out, they said that the light will come on intermittently.. that this is a common fault with the vauxhall zafiras, and unless the car starts misfiring, running lumpy etc then i was best just to leave it just now.. as it could just be a problem with the sensor,,0 -

lolwut?
If the ECU light has come on then it has recorded a fault in the ECU, regardless whether it stays on or not.
I had a coil pack issue on my Astra Coupe which made the light come on, and go off randomly. The fault was always there, until I changed the coil pack.0 -

Or worse still a procession of blind wheelchair bound nuns carrying toys to the childrens hospital! Imagine if you ran them down because you couldn't be bothered to get the fault fixed.
Honestly, bus stops full of children. I love how the consequences of peoples motoring actions are often predicted to involve hundreds of innocents.
Having said that, I agree with your central point, get the issue fixed now whilst its cheaper and hasn't had the chance to escalate and fling you screaming into a passing truck carrying baby seals to the orphanage for christmas.0 -
^^ Don't you get bonus point's for nuns?
Squash em against a lamppost for a pile driver bonus too!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
