Hello again Happy, how are you?

Thanks for telling me what a Terramond Pot is Woowoo, I know a lot of people do this but to me it seems better to keep paying money in as and when and reducing (or one day, earning) interest. My husband likes to keep loose change but I always think of it as money not working hard when it could be being used or paid in rather than sitting in a pot at home, and a £15 pot that you smash doesn't make good money sense, even though the pot sounds cute!

    Have redone my shortlist:
Ischgl, Solden, St Anton & St Christoph, Zell am See, Avoriaz/Morzine/Les Gets, Flaine, Les Arcs

the others were dismissed because I want Saturday flights and short transfers.

I agree about the change thing, it kills me to leave it hanging around when it could be winging it's way to Lloyds!

Glad Morzine is still on the list, will be sooooo jealous if you go there, that's where I will buy my apartment or Chatel a tiny village nearby!

    When u going?

Morzine sounds really nice, I am very tempted! In true money saving style will compare lift passes and ski hire as well, can make quite a big differenve to total cost!

Has to be Feb half term this year. Husband can't get holiday at Christmas or New Year, has bid for Easter but isn't guaranteed it. Always has to be school holidays and prices really do double! :(

Were going to Sauze d'Oulx, Italy for New Year, we paid £700 with the lift pass thrown in for free, a bargain for that time of year.

Were lucky we don't have to hire our own gear now, which saves on costs.

I've occasionally wondered about buying skis but I always think it is too much trouble, not the easiest to transport, need waxing and sharpening and when you hire them you usually get the latest design. I only ever hired boots twice, never again!

I think some of the resorts had lift pass deals which is why that might be a factor in determining where we decide to go!

My OH can wax and sharpen our snowboards himself so we don't need to worry about that, we have definitely made our money back on the cost of our boards.

Oh that's really good. How long have you had your boards, how often do they need updating/replacing?

I've had it for 2 years and I reckon I'll get another 3 out of it as I only do 2 weeks a year. Think my board cost about £220.

Crack that champagne open! What you going to do with the £100?

Well, really it should go towards paying the santander card, but it's tempting to think of it as a sign that we should put a deposit on a skiing holiday! I haven't paid a deposit for a holiday for ages, normally I have to pay the full balance because we book late. Will it still be a deposit if we book nowish?
