I'm feeling most crappy about the implication that being ill might not be genuine! The earliest Doctor's appointment I can get is tomorrow afternoon, I would so love to be signed off for a week. I would be off for a week too just to make a point, I'm not very happy. I wouldn't mind if I had days off all the time, this is my 3rd day in over two years. Might start working to rule now!

I used to work above and beyond in my job, then we went through the recession and I had to sit on the panel making staff redundant, which taught me a valuable lesson. You really are just a number and when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter how much dedicated and hardworking you are, your still out the door.

That's a really good point Woowoo. It doesn't matter how much I do, I don't think I will ever be thought as highly of as one of the 'favourites' (long story) so I'm not going to bother trying. Just keep my head down, do what I have to do but not look for or volunteer for anything extra. Might start to have a life again then! I do have a lovely lovely class though, so I will make sure that they are well looked after!

There is that famous saying about people on their deathbeds, apparently you rarely hear I wish I had worked harder or spent longer at the office....

    Hi RP,

Glad to hear that your FIL is much better now but it sounds like you are suffering! I would got to the DR's just so it is on record should anyting ever be said ;).

I think I have had an afternoon off sick in the past year, I tend to just go in and share my germs if I can. We are all nice to each other in my dept though and time off generally is never questioned. We all know that 99.9% of the time that if someone phones in sick then they are actually sick.

Hope you feel better soon :)

Thanks Jody, I'm just working my way through your diary! I've read about the oxgen starved fish, just about to find out about your running! Maldives is on my list too, our friends have been and said it was wonderful (though I'm sure some people would find it garish and full of Japanese). Problem is, I have a quite a long list of places that I want to go!

So, have you managed to build up the running? Are you still working at the pub?

I posted my spending earlier today, but then get logged out and lost it all. I might do it again later, like you, I seem to spend a lot on birthdays etc, well I certainly have this month.

I never started running - see the last page of my diary, might explain a lot! Still working in the pub, that's how I have managed to save my current repayment fund :D.

I wont spoil anything else for you though :rotfl:

    Good Morning All.

It's bright and sunny here, which makes a nice change!

I've had a nice walk to see my nice doctor who said I have a very nasty virus, my glands are up and my throat is 'raw', antibiotics won't help and I need to rest. I explained that it was difficult being off work so she has given me a sick note until next Wednesday. That is far longer than I would have ever stayed off, I'm sure I would have gone back tomorrow. So, work have shot themselves in the foot really. I don't feel guilty now and am settling down to watch 71 Degrees North on iplayer. Think I will have a nice week and when I go back next week I will be fitting fit. Maybe they won't mess with me again.

Father in Law is coming out of hospital today, anyone know anything about meals on wheels?

With the time off, when I'm feeling better, I can sort out Absurd & Ludicrous/Scamtander and get the DD information First Direct need. I also need to spoil my husband who has been a saint looking after me and I'm always such a crap nurse when he is ill!
