SAAB 9-3 vs Honda Civic. Which one?

Why on earth do you pull off in second?
The car spends the entirety of its life within the M25- mostly within central London itself and as such its all stop start in between lights. First gear is very short and you need to change to 2nd at about 12/15mph- so its easier to just drop the clutch and move off assuming you dont come to a complete stop.
I dont think its particularly sensible car for inner city, but it has to be a diesel apparently!0 -
...so not only will the next owner be miffed with the clutch/DMF failure, they will be moaning about a blocked up DPF lol0

Indeed, but I'd imagine it will go straight to an auction when the lease runs out on it.
One thing that has suprised me is the MPG- barely getting into the late 30's, although to be fair I havent taken it on a long run yet so will see if that changes anything.0 -

Don't blame the car for your (exceptionally poor) driving!

Where do you think us dealers get our cars from?0 -
The 9-3 is built on the GM Epsilon platform and has almost identical running gear to the 2002+ Vauxhall Vectra.....
So the same applies to the SAAB as to the VX, the petrol engine's are (all things considered) the cheapest to run in the long term.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Petrol Saab's are brilliant - more so the 2.0T 210bhp one! The 2.0t(165?) is plesant enough, but the 1.8t feels like it could do better.0

Why do you HAVE to choose between just these two as you dont seem happy about either?0

I didn't like my other options and couldn't afford what I actually like. And my old one will not pass the next MOT.
Anyway, I know it's wrong but I went for diesel Saab - the ride is much better and more power to overtake etc, plus it's packed with toys. Reliability seems to be an issue according to everyone but it's under 12 months warranty and after it runs out I'll get it extended for another 3 years if everything is more or less fine. Or I'll sell it after 12 months.
Wish me luck - I'll need it when I'll be waiting for AA on M23))
