I prefer savoury foods like a big pan of stew with mash or some hot soup but if I am forced
to eat sweet food I guess it would be a galaxy bar from the fridge with a hot cup of tea.

I'm a spud girl too, I must admit. Mine would be mash butties, yes mash sandwiches, with lots of butter in the mash. Or snacks would be crisps. Or something like ryvita with banana slices would be good, because although I don't particularly fancy it, it does seem to settle cravings.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

Thank you both! I feel very welcomed!:j
I have a number of women friends who tend to decend on me when 'Penny' is visiting as they know I cook and tend to be prepared for everything! I normally would prepare a hearty, chunky beef casserole/brisket with lots of root veg and some mash followed by a crumble and extra thick double cream. I also always have a backup of some 70%+ cocoa chocolate around the house for any low moment's I have (and those unexpected visits). Most of the girls keep some at work and home and have a couple of squares a day at most while 'Penny's' there and find themselves well balanced out! Also they like the idea as it's difficult to eat more than that amount of the 70%!:o
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
Boiled egg with 'soldiers' of toast.
HM mushy peas in a cup with vinegar and pepper.
cornflakes with hot milk and sugar.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
A big bowl of cornflakes with sugar, or a trip to the shop for a bar of cadbury's chocolate I am afraid. If I am in the humour for savoury I do eggy bread but with ketchup instead of cinnamon and sugar.Penny xxx

I'm exactly the same! But, there are certain times when "times of the month" strike and I am desperate, DESPERATE, yes, desperate, did I mention to kill for DESPERATE for chocolate  (can take it or leave it normal times). Galaxy is the perfect solution :rotfl: Failing that, it would be the other extreme and need to be 70%+ cocoa dark chocolate
If it's not hormonal, but a cuddle from the inside out comfort food ... then, lentil dhal is a sure winner; filling, tasty and looooooong lasting
PS: Where is it? WHERE IS IT!!??? Who's got the Galaxy, I want it NOW!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(Except it was salt and vinegar they gave us but I don't like salt much.)
I wonder how many kids now would screw their noses up at the idea of a cup of peas to eat instead of a toffee apple! LOLMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Bonfire night, when I was growing up, would mean a cup of hot (hm) soup and a jacket spud cooked in the embers of the bonfire.
Toffee apples (and roasted peanuts) came courtesy of the man on his bicycle who would ring his bell and chant:
"ROAST peanuts, tof-fee apPLES! Rrrrroast peanunt, tof-fee apPLES" :rotfl: Crikey, how much did we pray it was Blue Moon Day so we could run out and some!
