Toilet Roll

Hi Folks...

I get really frustrated when buying toilet roll, it bugs me immensely at the cost and if you go for the cheap ones, you use more and it truly isn't nice to wipe with but I suppose it only goes down the toilet.

Aarrgghh... just a rant - what does everyone else buy, cheap or decent?

  • Nicky from Farmfoods or homebargains is cheap but better quality than most premium brands. It's soft but strong & we find we use less, it lasts longer, than the premium brands. 3 ply with Aloe.
    4 rolls 99p, 9 rolls £1.99 & 18 rolls for £3.69 or maybe £3.89?

I saw this in Waitrose  the other day (in someone elses trolley) when I popped in for milk. Perhaps they are cottoning on to the fact that people have less money to spend on bottom luxuries....

Sounds odd l know but we buy the mini jumbo rolls from Costco's Box of 12, yes we do have the dispenser also, so it may look like a public loo to some, however the money we save over the long term makes it worth it.

I have to admit to buying the more expensive types. I do get them in bulk to cut on price but the way I see it is thus: I lived in a hostle for a long while. I went from being at my family home and us having Andrex to having to use the Basics which (I have no idea if its improved) 20 years ago was paper thin and we used way too much- it worked out false economy.

So when I moved into my own flat, I chose to get the more expensive type, I didn't mind spending the extra as I really value having decent loo roll!:D

I also live alone and am able to not use more then is required (my neice, 6, uses so much my sister has had to call out the plumber several times to unblock the toilet as a result! If I had kids I think they would have to have their own toilet roll :rotfl:)
  • LOL, this is a real bug bear of mine and I've bought all the top brands from all over the place and tried the expensive brands with the added 'extras' like aloe vera and moisturisers built in and yet I always make a point of going to 1 shop to buy just their own brand toilet tissue!!

The sad thing is that toilet tissue is sold by one of the High St 'budget' stores and it's Aldi's Aloe Vera toilet tissue!

It's great quality, soft, aromatic and cheap!

I always feel a bit daft when walking out the shop though as it's all I ever buy and stock up for the month so the staff must think I've got one hell of a bad stomach!

If you haven't tried it yet then try it, it put's to shame the top end offerings by the likes of Andrex etc.

I've always been happy with Kleenex Velvet TR from Iceland. 4+2free= 6pack for £2. Don't know how long the xtra 2 rolls offer will last for.

If I see bargains where the roll price beats that then I go for that!

Andrex quilted, Andrex normal, Nouvelle, Charmin are all good and especially when on offer!
  • +1 for Nicky from our household. As my sister says "it's like wiping your a**e with a duvet"!
