I have just read all this thread! I now have a list as long as my arm! Fab ideas.
I was thinking of making a pom pom scarf as anyone made one before?

not sure if someone has answered you yet coz i'm busy reading the whole thread. I've made a couple of pom pom scarves using the pom pom yarn that sirdar make think its called sirdar snowflake, really quick to knit up on big needles and they are really warm! think its about £7(?) a ball but it only takes 1 ball to make the scarf. Made a cushion cover using the smaller rico pom pon yarn too, this is a bit more expensive. The rico one makes a pattern where the pom poms are very tighly knit together where as the sirdar is a bit looser as the pom poms are about the double the size, i prefer the sirdar myself.

Hope that all makes sense and i havent just typed a load of pom pom babble!!!:rotfl:

Hi everyone, hope you all had a fab weekend with lots of inspiration, i managed to make the taggy blanket and get another 20 jars from Freecycle :j pining my hoped on a sewing machine now :D
So i found a tutorial downloadable on papercraft (magazine website) for a xmas star with beads, maybe similiar to the Kirsties homemade one (unsure as i never saw the prog but sounds similiar )

    http://www.crafts-beautiful.com/index.php/download/how_to_make_a_christmas_tree_star_with_dremel/

Has anyone made anything else or got any new ideas? x

Don't know if you have got one, or how big a sewing machine you wanted but they have some small ones in ALDI atm or they did in macclesfield. £14.99, they look similar to the ones JML used to do. I would rather like one myself if I new how to use 1 lol

I made some truffles last Christmas, and they were so hard to shape, because they just seemed to melt all the time. I tried using 2 teaspoons, but even that was proving difficult. How did you make your's? I'm wondering if I should try getting a melon baller to use this year?

Hi, I hope no one minds me joining in ive had so much fun reading through this thread and intend to handmake as much of my xmas pressies as I can :D

I did the truffles for valentines day and they went down a treat, I bought a melon baller for it and it failed miserably but pampered chef do a truffle maker spoon thing, i forget what it is called. They are a little on the pricey side but if your doing lots of truffles and do every year then it is definitely an investment.

Lol. Are they easy to learn to use? I have been and ordered a load of stuff from the florists today, they are brilliant. Ordered some foam cones for yarn tree, and I am going to make sweet bouquets, I don't like selection trays I think they are just ridiculously expensive for what you get and like to do different ways of giving sweets, my brothers would be majorly peed off if they didnt get any sweets lol. So I ordered some little tin buckets and some oasis for that aswell. 8 tins, 8 foam cones and 4 peices of oasis for £10. Bargain I reckon!! :D

I am on the look out for little glass jars that will be nice for pots of gold. I read somewhere on this thread something about silver cloud lining or something, what were they?

OH has just made green tomato chutney - hope it tastes as good as it smells:D he used the recipe elysia posted but also added marrow as he would only have got about one jar from the amount of tomatoes we had.
he has also made raspberry jam and blackberry jam both of which will go in foody hampers for Christmas
I plan to make the truffles and fudge to go in them too and possibly mini Christmas cakes.
thanks for all the fab ideas on here :A

I think as long as you read the instructions and are willing to be patient at first then it does get easy in time, the sewing part is easy, it's the figuring out how to fix the problems that take a while lol, :T
