Hi everyone,
did a little shop at Mr A this morning. just milk plus mushrooms, carrots and onions for soup @ £3.98 and also 18 packs of McCoys Crisps for £1.98.
That is my last food shop for Sept as pay day is Monday. I'm delighted to report that I was £19 under budget for the month and my year to date figures are under budget by £23.74! I cant believe it esp as some months have been a bit of a struggle to be on target! Well chuffed, thanks for all the support on here - it helps such a lot!:T

Flatmate cooked dinner - Salmon with Parmesan crust with mash and green beans. Was nice, but we both agreed it was quite dry. He made too many breadcrumbs so now has a LOT of breadcrumbs mixed with parsley and parmesan. Apart from freezing, does anyone have any idea what can be done with these? Would rather not do the same recipe tbh...
A quick & easy dinner to use the breadcrumbs would be:
Get some ripe tomatoes (I prefer cherry cos' they cook quicker, but any will be fine) cut in half & put in a baking dish, drizzle in olive oil & sprinkle your cheesy breadcrumbs over, grill on high for 5-10mins until they start to look a bit 'wilted', remove from grill & 'mash' with a fork, add a bit more oil if you want it to be a bit looser.
While you're doing this cook some pasta, drain pasta & add tomatoes, & some more cheesy breadcrumbs as a topping - nice easy, quick dinner.:D
Hope that helps.0 -

Well, bit of a disaster on Monday: I went to Asda (rarely go there) complete with shopping list, ready to spend £75 and ended up spending ...£139!!!
TBH, this was mainly because their cleaning products were on really good special offer - Flash spray with bleach, which is usually £1.99 each, was 2 for £1, so I bought loads, plus loads of washing powder and LOTS of reduced items which have all gone in the freezer.
So, totals are looking a bit dicey, but I am VERY stocked up so will TRY only to buy milk etc. next week :A0 -

Thanks for that recipe - its sounds really delish - Im putting it on my list! It sounds a good one for using up "sad " tomatoes that sometimes get chucked!
Thanks sistercas and nat21luv - it's support like yours that helps keep me focussed. Before I did this I spent money willy nilly and I cringe when I think what I wasted. Now, shopping for food is like a military operation!!:rotfl:

Another £9.99 spent at Mr M's. That means that I have spent exactly half of my budget for this month with 2 weeks to go. Hopefully I can keep it under budget.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Afternoon all, just updating.
Had an A*da shop yesterday which has taken me to about 3/4 of my budget. It is DS's birthday tomorrow (I've got stuff for that) and family are coming on Saturday (I need a few things for that) but after that I have really got to tighten the belt.
I think I'm just getting that old Xmas panic  but it should be OK if I stay organised over these next couple of months (repeats to self "I will not buy a load of carp this Christmas"!)August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0
