Sometimes I just want to slap some people! Regardless of whether they really are on a 'tight budget' or if we don't think they really are compared to some, you think "Well it wouldn't be so flaming tight if you didn't keep doing X, Y, and Z!"

Unfortunately I truly cannot comprehend how some people are so cr*p with their money, I just can't grasp it at all, and this can make me seem a bit harshly judgemental and unfair sometimes I think.

I agree... but my parents were like this... they were frugle like me... then they had money and spent that plus some! They lived the life they said!

Now they have no money... they have huge debts... and waste money in stupid places... I want to tell them to pay off the debts... not spend a fortune on ready meals!

Not buy things they don't need!!!

Yet they borrow money from ME!!!

I am about the same off... but I save every penny I can!!!

Me i've paid off my debts... my parents... have years to go!

Ps. I think it's fair to judge people when they ask for sympathy for a situation they place themselves into and won't try and make it better!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • Just reporting a £13ish spend in Marks and Spencer at the motorway services (could there be a more expensive place to shop?!?) on milk, spread, a pizza, 2 eclairs, a drink and a salad. Not sure of the exact amount but I'll check the receipt when I get home as it is in my other bag. I need to also have a look at the housekeeping purse as I think we took £50 from it for my OH's sister's birthday party rather than pay the extoritionate £2 charge to get my own money out of the cashpoint at the motorway services.
  • Spent £27.12 in top up shoping today and over the weekend. All fresh stuff, Netto got some good BOGOF offers and the muller corners are on offer again.

Doing a big monthly online shop seems to be working at the moment, less than two weeks to wait for the actual figure!!
    Mum, wife and dinnerlady!
  • £1.64 on 4 bags of flour! I'm baking bread (no machine involved) Yummy!

My budget is also £40 a week for 2 Adult, a Child, 2 cats and 2 Rabbits! We eat well... we eat healthy!

£150 is stupid amounts of money!! It sounds like a lot of meat... which isn't good for you!! Good for you... be proud of what you do xxx

JG - they're vegetarians!!!!!!!!!!! Heaven knows what on earth they buy, I think its a lot of Extra Special/ Finest type things, whereas I'm more your Smart Price/ Value Gal ( within reason)!!!;)
Thanks for the words of reassurance!!!:A

I also hate being judgemental as Im presently paying the price for years of racking up cc debt and a costly divorce, but I had my LBM and am payingthe debt off monthly via DMP. I swear I've never been happier, because I know what I buy I either need or Ive saved for - no more ostrich behaviour from me!! I truly appreciate what I've got and I dont need fancy clothes/ holidays/ cars to validate me as a person - oh my, got all philosophical there!

you will always be rich enough to be generous.

Vegetables and pulses don't need to be finest!!!!

Do you know, my husband and I were saying the same... we have become happier trying to penny pinch... because what we own and buy is ours... we never worry, and he is so proud of my cheap meals... he wants me to host a part for friends...

    3 courses under £1 a head!!!

But back to topic.... we go camping (in the rain... no fair weather campers here), we have two cars (because we bother worked) but they are ours, they are old... and they are good!

And if someone thinks my 30p a head meal is cheap and unhealthy... they are obviously insecure in themselves!!!!

As you said... you don't need possessions to be validated!

My sofa is old... my carpet worn... and every comments on how 'homely' my house is... how you feel like you can just put your feet up and relax!!!

My sister's house... EVERYTHING is new and it matches... and i'm scared... I once dropped a little water on the suade couch....

    NEVER again!!!
