Hi there. I actually went shopping on Saturday, took Boyfriend so he could carry some of my heavy bags, teeheehee. So since he was here I haven't been on to update till now. He's gone home now .

Joining the Cr*p Whoopsie Club, and feeling a little disheartened as I've just noticed quite a few things have gone up since I last shopped. Feel like what is the point of trying to stick to a budget when prices keep going up and will cause me to never be able to keep within it as everything keeps just costing more.

However, it's not all bad at all. Managed to get some wine on offer so that it was less than I've paid for wine in some time. Also I had a till spit for £4 off a £30 spend. Worked out what I would need for the rest of the month and shopped for everything that would keep, tins etc, since I had the help to carry it back as well. Even so I didn't think I would be able to use the voucher, but then some "ladies products", that were also on offer making them momentarily cheaper than I usually manage to get them, pushed me only just over the £30 limit. The sums go:

Just over £30, so could use voucher which brought it to...
...just over £26, minus the "ladies products" as they aren't part of my grocery bill...
...equals just under £20 spent and now all I need for the rest of the month are things like fresh veg, fruit and bread. Will still end up over budget but it's significantly less than I'd expected I would spend this week, so some good luck with damage limitation.

I had a spend of just under £30 in Mr T on Friday but a NS weekend. This brings my totals to 8 NSDs and £227 from my £300 budget. I have all the meat and staples we will need just fresh fruit, veg, milk, eggs, etc. to buy

Taking a Mr A trip with my sister tomorrow as she shouldn't drive at the moment. I'm sure to spend something, especially if the chicken breasts are still on offer at £5 instead of £9.99. I don't need them but they will save in the freezer for next month.

Well done... is a NSD just for groceries... or for everything???
Within the GC threads, I take it as groceries (and anything included in that persons GC budget) only

On the NSD challenge thread it varies wildly from person to person - for me (which means the figures in my signature) it means everything household, car and pet related, including insurances, utility bills and window cleaner. If I have to find the money for it, then it's a spend........

I forgot to add that I am a bit annoyed with the checkout person. Have noticed later that she only gave me three bag re-use points. I think she has only counted the use of the three shop's own reusable bags I had even though we also clearly in front of her put things in Boyfriend's backpack he had for staying here, and in my handbag, so actually used five of our own bags. We needed to as well, the three shop-branded bags were full so it wasn't as if I was just taking the mick using the other bags for the sake of it to try and get points.

This is why I like to usually use the self-serve tills (admittedly I am not trying to get a giant trolley-load of shopping, in any case they're not really designed for that).
  • I've lost track of this a bit this month. I know I spent some money last Sunday, but didn't get a receipt so will forget about it.

Other than that - £4.14 at the greengrocers last Sunday and £6.86 in Asda today. I did get some more plastic containers, but haven't counted them. The rest of it was mainly toiletries and cleaning bits...food wise I only got bananas, mayonnaise, some pasta and sauce packets (for lazy days) and a whopping 20p on sweets.

Oh, just remembered, I got 2pts of milk and some spread in the week so have added them on too.

That's good then 2 NSD for me!!

Since I never buy anything midweek... this should be easy....!

Not if you add the pressure cooker I bought yesterday.... i'm not doing so well :S
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • Can really relate to all those points about people who don't get the MS thing. I have stopped feeling that they're looking down on me, now I think they're crazy to waste all thta money. Even if they're not hard up, don't they mind being ripped off? And as for what supposedly hard up people put in their shopping, don't get me started!

btw the HB near me does 6 large FR eggs for 99p, is that always the price or is it just cos it's a new shop? also bought at PAH (a shop I h8) a big bag of J Wellbeloved cat food, 5kg, down to £20.99 which I think is best of any. Am not counting it as GC, nor the 2 new yummy bunnies rescued yesterday and their various 'stuff' ! About to update sig... can't say I'm on target but not so very far off...

    Night all!

Totally with you on this one.
  • Mr T took £47.47 of my money today. I did stock up on staples a bit though, mainly due to my triple points voucher running out today, so thought might as well. x
