  • Good afternoon everyone,
have spent the day popping on and off the thread and have at last caught up with all the posts. Not possible to post regularly at the moment but I am still interested in what everyone has to say.

Great to see so many newbies, welcome all.

Had first spend of the month today £6 for shoe bags from the £shop. Cheating a bit as due to freezer fiasco last month I did a big shop at very end of August so that it wouldn't count in my September challenge. Had failed August anyway so might as well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb.:rotfl:
Anyway did manage to bag a lot of whoopsies so freezer is now full of yellow labels.
Brother gave me pears of his tree this week and they are far nicer than any sm produce and they are huge. Delicious.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, beautiful weather here, ideal for foraging.

Best wishes to all and (((hugs))) to those who are struggling for one reason or another at the moment.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!
  • ok well the plastic cleared yesterday so now i'm in september :D
£7.37 spent in MrT on spuds & milk (plus a couple of tins for lunches)
am ordering online shop later when i've menu planned.
    back later

    Loving the signature Highland Fling!
  • Finished a packet of cookies today and was about to add it to my weekly shopping list for tomorrow when I realised we could make some. DS and I made around 22 cookies this afternoon from ingredients we already had in the house and they are DELICIOUS, so I'll have to put brown sugar and raisins on the list instead. Hopefully they will work out cheaper than the bought ones........ (scratches head and ponders for a moment).

Although not officially doing a challenge I am trying to have NSDs and am pleased to report one today. DD asked for money to get a drink at the stables so I took her some of her own pocket money!

    Best wishes all

I also have chutney cooking at the moment and food drying in the dehydrator so i'm using quite a lot of electricity today :-O

  • Hi there...

After having my hours at work cut from 30 to 18.5 a week I think I need to join this challenge!!

I spent £263.26 on groceries in August (but this isnt including money spent on eating out with my son over the summer holiday) and I'm aiming to reduce it by ten pound each month, starting with £250
    for Sept.

    Best of luck everyone :)

RIGHT! I've totally fell off the bandwagon today £10 spend in M & S, £30 Spend in Boots for toiletries AND I have to go out to Asda as I don't have everything I need!

    *Sigh*

  • Hi,

So far this month I have spent £165.45 of my £350 budget. Did a 'big shop' last weekend in Aldi and Tesco, got most of the store cupboard items, toiletries, nappies, wipes and cleaning products for the month. Did have a slip up one day last week and bought lunch at work instead of taking my own... The menu plan worked a treat last week so I have done one for this week too. Also tried 'Rubber Chicken', had it roasted one night, following night had chicken and sweetcorn pasta and there were still left overs for sandwiches on day 3 - very impressed! Think I will try it in the slow cooker next time :)
