I was wondering if I could join? Have been looking for the challenge, but obviously had eyes shut until Berni888 gave me the link. (Thanks Berni888). I'd like to try for £200.00 for the month. Have spent nothing on shopping so far this month.
Many thanks

Hello all
I took the day off work today as I needed a day getting stuff sorted without kids or DH around. It's been gloriously sunny - hurrah - but I've now got sore feet as I have been tramping round various shops comparing prices and almost managing to stick to my list. I bought one some bananas from one of those stalls where every bowl is £1, some herbs and veg from a middle eastern supermarket for £2.59 and then I spent £76.04 in Mr T's.
I am very pleased with this as I reckon this lot should last us at least 10 days so we should be on target so far. I even took a packed lunch so I wouldn't be tempted to go to a cafe!
One thing we always fall down on (hic!) is wine. At three £5 bottles a week that's about £60 per month. And sometimes it's more than three per week. Oh that does look bad when I write it down - we really must cut back!
Couple of things I spotted while shopping - Mr T has Hovis loaves at 75p each, Country Life butter at two for £2 and caulis for two for £1. I bought two of those so I will make a big load of cauliflower cheese for the freezer.
Also I have been buying the new Yeo Valley four packs of fruit yoghurts (individual pots). They are on offer in T AND each one has a 40p voucher off next purchase inside at the mo so you can save doubly on those (as long as you like them enough to buy a second time of course, but they are very nice).
My brain hurts now from doing lots of price per kg calculations so I'm going for a cup of tea and a rest!0 -

£4.20 spend on a takeaway last night

Spent 66.76 at Sainsburys today.
£9.27 of that was on the half price toothpaste/brushes/floss/mouthwash offer.
I should (hopefully!) get to the end of the month as I have plenty in the freezer.

Went to Mr T today.. Usually do all my shopping online via MYSUPERMARKET and get the best deal however MR T sent me:
£12.50 off £50 vouchers to spend in store - I have got 4 of them for the following 4 weeks which will make such a difference to my Budget :j:j:j
I made a very detailed list through MYSUPERMARKET DH went with me checking it off like a Sargent Major (Very Funny) we kept to the list and spent £47.50 after the voucher so on track .. Yippeee:T
Also I joined weightwatchers this week so having the additional challenge of keeping to my budget but incorporating low fat food!!!
Hopefully by the end of the month I'll be lighter around the waste but fatter in my purseGoal - We want to be mortgages free :j

Today was a spend day for me. I spent £3.35 in Aldi, £3.20 in Nisa, £14.89 in the Co-op and £16.93 online at AF. In total i spent £38.37 and now have £61.63 of my grocery budget remaining for the month.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Smallish start for the month for me, spending roughly equal amounts in Mr T & A!di. T's have 3KG of fusilli pasta for £2 (usually £3+) so I picked up one of those. On offer until about 14th, so I'll get another next week. Managed to get 1ltr whoopsied organic milk for 25p and 3 tubs of double cream for 25p each (all good for over the weekend) Frubes are still £1/ box, so I got 4 (we actually get through around 3 boxes a week, anyway!) Ooh, and value mozzarella has gone down to 30p pack from c 47p (so I got 5 - will use 1.5 tonight on pizza and freeze the others if necessary - but think they are good for another 2 and a bit weeks, so may not have to)
On a tangent, T's had loads of pretty porcelain mugs reduced to 10p/ 25p/ 50p - possible Xmas things? A!di also had packets of pretty striped multicoloured pasta shapes down to 30p from £1.50, so I got a couple of those for foody hampers (BBE 11/11 in our store) Have kept the spends on mugs and pasta in GC as it was so smallI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Hi both and welcome,
The list is updated by MrsMcCawber who doesn't manage to get on here everyday.
This message is for both you and all newbies who have not been added to the list. Apologies for the 'shout':
ALL NEWBIES SHOULD PUT THE AMOUNT THEY WANT TO SET AS A CHALLENGE AND WHETHER ITS PER WEEK, MONTH OR YEAR IN THEIR POST IN LARGE RED LETTERS LIKE THIS. THEN MRSMCCAWBER WON'T MISS YOU WHEN SHE DOES LOG ON.
If you have posted and haven't been added to the list then you can either repeat your post using the format above or go back to your original post and edit it.
I think sometimes, if you join near the end of a month, you may not get added until the start of the next month. Once on the list you should always use the large red text when declaring at the end of a month and pledging your challenge at the beginning of a new thread.
Hope that helps! It seems a bit strange 'shouting' but it makes it easier for MRSMCAWBER to pick out the newbies.
NSD for me today :j first of the month!
Take care,
SpigsMortgage Free October 2013 :T0
