Have you actually driven any of the models that this will apply to? It's like night and day compared with the older stuff.

Time will tell, but I have my doubts.

How is driving a car related to it's future reliability?:)

The conversion probably cost more than the corsa:rotfl:

£600 , so paid for itself MANY times over.

I wonder how many people out there think an MOT is a service or guarantees the running order of the car, lol.

yep so many people seem to think its like some kind of major overhaul refurbishment of everything on the car , rather than a quick check over

Didnt i read that Corsa cams are hollow?

not sure about the twinports but the isuzu y17dt has got a hollow tube with cams sweated on to it,i think it is only the one that is hollow the belt driven shaft is standard cast, this then drives the hollow shaft by gears.
this is the isuzu diesel that was used just before going common rail.
  • This is outrageous on such a new car! if today's new cars are so appalling, what am I going to be able to buy in 20 years when they've depreciated to my level?

Even worse think of all the expensive electrical items which may need replacing which are often just not present in today's raft of bangers. In that time either everything else will be so expensive that that is inconsequential, or the cars will just be scrapped instead.

It is not a standard failure item on the particular engines.
It was a manufacture/build issue on a certain chassis range around the 2005 vintage,so when they are at old banger stage of their lives it will more likely be electrical issues rather than bust cams

I worry about those new BMWs and similar that stop-start all the time, imagine pulling up at the lights and putting it in neutral, the car stops, you push the clutch in as the lights go amber and get greeted with the constant repetative hack of the starter motor when the engine doesn't want to start any more!

C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!
