MyUserNamesTaken wrote:Uh...stupid question time. Why are you buying a PSP when you got one over the weekend from Tesco? Your first post said that you'd picked up a PSP in one store and an Xbox in another and that you would be talking to HO about both on Monday.
Hi...
In my first post I did state that I picked up a PSP but unfortunately the manager did not play ball with the policy and offered me the game for free or a full refund. At the time I felt that if I had accepted the game then I would be accepting the terms he laid out, therefore I accepted a refund. I then went out the next day and purchased an Xbox 360 and has the same problem.....difference being that this time I took the advice from some members of the board and walked away with the product (xbox360).
HO said that the store I purchased my PSP from had none in stock therefore they would send me the money in the form of a cheque in order to purchase one myself :-) . With the Xbox I got a straight refund as I still have the goods :-)
Thanks all again for your help0 -
Wow Dudes - too many posts to read - I hope the following helps those still pursing a R&R on the XBOX 360 & GOTW (Just Cause) over-charge.
It seems that HO are discriminating between the wording on the SEL - if you got the white box (full system) your are in as the magic word 'console' is on the SEL.
But if you bought the green box (core) system then you are going to have a fight on your hands - don't get me wrong - as far as I'm and the rest of the reasonable english-speaking world ae concerned you bought a console - but the magic word 'console' is not on the SEL.
Of course this links into the poster - 'Save £20 when you buy an XBOX 360 Console and GOTW'.
Next step - Kevin Kelly and Team at HO require your (or a) address and a copy of your receipt for prompt action - send them a fax or scan. If you chat to them in a nice manner they are equally nice and will help you.
I have the distinct impression that they need to verbally bollox the Store Manager and over-ride the refused R&R - only when this is done do they come back to you with the good news.
On the one hand they are very busy with this issue (Budda alone knows if the posters this Friday are going to be right) but it doesn't hurt to call them every day for an update.
I was over-charged on Sunday evening - got the thumbs up for R&R yesterday (Tuesday) tea-time - not too long to wait.
You will - if you are patient - get your R&R.
Sorry if this is old news - simply too many posts to read - and hey I hope you Dudes are still being nice to each other.
Hope this helps - now where are those mis-priced XBOX 360 games....;)

Must remember this post is on page 88 or I will never find it by the time I get back.0 -

If you don't have any joy with the phone call I could email you the letter I wrote to Trading Standards and didn't need to use. When I sent them an email with the letter attached they phoned and agreed with me.
Hi...could you PM me a copy of your letter please......I have an outstanding refusal.0 -
And me please crimsonmaj. ThanksLook after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0

If this is a letter for why green xboxes are consoles I'd also really appreciate a copy. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

There's never to many posts to read. Every1 is interesting to find out other peoples experiences with the same thing i'm doing. Im a fast reader so it doesn't take long, I just ignore the one's about meat etc...
I was refused a refund on a PSP last night, without the advice given on this site I would've just accepted the 'free game' & thought lucky me, now I know better & know I can get both items free with a phone call to HO.

Question from a RRrreeeaaall Thicky here, so be Gentle with me.
I have been reading all about your console/bundle exploits, and I'm determined to get my act together and try for one this week end, but.....
Despite all my avid reading and note-taking I am getting such mixed messages. I know Tescos change their offers regularly, and even occasionally fix gliches, but....
On the 26th Sept One poster says PSP with Tekken does not trigger the discount, then someone posts and says it does get discount....they have made a hurried excuse "I've forgotten my cc", and make a sharp exit !
Someone says its the console that is causing the problem, others that its the wrong GOTW which doesn't trigger the discount.
Does ANY out of date poster/old GOTW NOT get a discount, or is it specific console models/colours I should be looking at
I don't mind doing all the leg work, nor putting the time in, but the longer I spend LOITERING trying to figure out which game with which console I'm sure I'll lose my nerve.
Am I best to wait until Friday and see which is the latest 'golden ticket' combination this week to guarentee an early Xmas present ?
Or should I try and track down this PSP and Trekken a.s.a.p ?
I don't have many store to go round, so I don't want to get a bundle-with-discount, make an excuse, and then come back 2 days later and go thru the whole rigmarole again....I've had smaller R&Rs in ALL my local stores already, so I'm not exactly 'unknown'.
I don't want to risk a ban without even having the consolation of getting the kids their Xmas present.
Any IDIOT geared suggestions/guidelines would be most welcome - such as the white slim one etc, as I'm not the most techologically up-to-date person in the asylum
Thanks in advance for any replies, even the sarcastic ones.......
If I don't get my nerve up, I think I'll have to stick to the christmas annuals this year
Last week the problems arose as only 1 of the PSP's kicked the discount in when bought with the GOTW(Tekken).....
Those that didnt kick the discount in were the black(1003) at £149, and the White Ceramic at £179......both these had white sels.
If the wrong game of the week is advertised however eg GOTW Gangs of London....then any PSP with(a wrong GOTW) will not kick in the discount.
Things have changed slightly this week as there are varying reports of discounts kicking in, in some stores, while others still getting their RnR's.
I would try one of the white sel ones with Tekken.....but be prepared to take it back if the discount kicks in
If you can find a poster with wrong GOTW then you have a winner.0 -

Unless of course, someone had just put Tiger Woods in the GOTW position......but there was a lot of trouble about that, with people being accused of "moving the games about"....some RnRs were given, others wern't.
You had a good result...............3 of them.
As well as having a game of the week border around the game, it also had the sel underneath it too, so they couldn't argue it was the wrong game.
I argued for the discount as there was a yellow label under the PSP's saying
" Buy a psp or ds with the game of the week and get £10 off."
It was quite funny as the manager said it only applied to the console to
the left of the sign, "the one with the yellow sel".
I pointed out to her that the console she was looking at was a PS2 and not a PSP.
She then decided that it was only off the PSP giga pack and not the Value pack.
She said if it was "off the value pack it would say £10 off value pack".
I asked her in that case why didn't it say £10 off giga pack?
She said she didn't know and that I was not entitled to even a £10 refund!!
I left with the goods and called HO who asked for my receipt to be faxed
and phoned later to tell me to go back for full refund.
I rubbed it in a little with CS when I went back in, said I would have been happy with a £10 refund when I first pointed out the error as I wasn't aware of the r and r policy, and that HO had told me about it!!!! :j0 -
