Are you kidding :D I once painted my bedroom walls three different shades of 'cream' in two weeks before I was satisfied with the colour !

    I don't like white walls.....

I'm sorry you are as indecisive/fussy as me.....but I feel soooo much better knowing I'm not alone. :D

Neither did I up until very recently and even now I'm not sure if I can honestly use the word 'like'. However I keep seeing room pics like the one i posted and I'm warming to the idea.
See to me, thats wood with a white accent - ie a lot more wood than paint ;).

That did cross my mind I have to admit. :D

Well the deed is done.....I'm just back from B&Q...with white paint. I figure painting it white now is the least of the evils...if I like it, it can stay...if i don't like it then it's easier to add colour should I want to.

And I think I'm having a wood floor now as well. :o:D

You will love it white..so fresh and clean imo. I am a childminder and with numerous children in and out the walls are so easy to keep clean with one of those magic sponges!
  • I have the majority of my house painted "Natural Wicker" and "Natural Calico" - when I first did it I had a crisis over being too neutral/boring but in my living room I've got a feature wall in "Willow Tree" and it adds colour and keeps me from feeling too "home magaziney". Maybe a feature wall in a different but still pale colour would help - there's lots of turquoise and green colours that aren't too bright and you could paint the wall behind the bed so your duvet would complement it. If you've got lamps you can get new shades for them for a few pounds from supermarkets/diy stores to add a small hint of colour.

Get some tester pots in different shades and experiment. The other way to decorate is to chose something that you will put in the room as a focal point, it could be a picture, vase, some curtains, a favourite chair etc and then build your colour scheme around that.

One of the best tips my decorator gave me last year was not to get too hung up on the colour of a newly-painted room, if you're not 100% sure about it. Once you've put in all your furniture, soft furnishings etc the wall fades to the background.
