Can I trust CPW on this?

I have a cashback redemption due on my 4th, 8th and 12th airtime invoices with CPW. I haven't used one of these schemes before so I am a little nervous.

Invoice number 3 came in on time as expected in August, but now my Spetember invoice has come in and it is numbered invoice 5, so I don't have a 4th invoice!

I have phoned CPW and they have said just send in invoice 5 and it will automatically be treated as the 4th invoice, but I am worried that if there is a problem there will not be time to sort this out before I am timed out on the deal.

CPW seem to be pretty honourable on these chshback deals accoring to people on this forum but I wondered if anyone has any advice or has had this experience themselves?

Any advice gratefully received.

If you're that worried, just send them a copy of the August invoice in addition to your September invoice with a cover letter pointing out that the numbering system just skipped from 3 to 5.

The evidence in front of them will then be obvious to see to the point that it would take an absolute incompetent to fail your claim.

    You should be fine.

  • hmmm....it sounds very suspicious to me....
  • who's the network provider? Not CPW O2 by any chance?
I try to avoid taking out contracts where network provider and service provider being the same company.
  • I'm sure they'll be fine. CPW have always told me to just send in the next one if I forget it will be processed the phone. They generally don't have a problem if you take the problem into the shop (even if its an e2save purchase); they can also fax it through to the relevant department- and have done so for me when I've had a problem.

    Hi happy hunter,

I think you've got your terminology mixed up here.

Network Provider = O2, Voda etc...
Service Provider = CPW Services etc...
Retailer = CPW, Mobileshop, E2Save etc...

The terms "Network Provision" and "Service Provision" were defined in the mid-late 1990s by the then telecoms regulator when creating a level playing field for the new kids on the block at the time (Orange and One-2-One). By forcing Vodafone and O2 (or BT Cellnet as it was then known) to separate network provision functions from service provision functions and barring them from operating any form of service provision, the third party service provider was born.

More recently, Voda and O2 have had this historic restriction lifted and gone about the business of buying-up as many third party service providers as they can.

To this day CPW Services is probably the only major third party service provider to continue to operate in the consumer segment of the market and, even then, they only continue to take O2 business (their Vodafone business was handed back to Vodafone in May this year, with the existing customer base migrated a few months later).

Me thinks you are trying to say that that you don't wish to have the same RETAILER and SERVICE PROVIDER lest they collude to make it impossible for you to claim your cashback.

Despit the fact that I am a cynic by nature, I don't feel so suspicious where Carphone Warehouse is concerned.

    regards,

  • Thanks for the advice.

The contract is with CPW O2. The reason I went with them was I managed to get them to price match 250xnet minutes to around £12 a month with a D600 included. I then got another £70 off for them sending the wrong number, so I am only paying just over £5 a month (as long as I get the money back)

I will send this off with the suggested note and will let you know how I get on.
