Saturday? ...Oh well, still no email for me so guess its a NO for me then.
I earn over the £1000 wages threshold too so must have failed the credit check. They probably rejected me the same day but have forgot to send me an email or letter.Won't bother calling them now no point. I'm happy enough with my Basic Account but the £135 would have been nice if I'd ever gotten it :rotfl:

Why not give them a call? Don't just assume you've been rejected. They are not the most organised of banks (putting it mildly!) and at least that way you'll know what's happening with your applicationDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

thanks but I hate ringing call centres (even worse paying for the call).
...maybe i'll email customer services to ask? I don't need the switching money at all but feel like i've invested time in the app and this post now tooI guess I can hope that I was referred rather than auto-accepted like the previous poster so maybe they've just been understaffed with everything and the bank holiday. Why did I apply in the first place again?

I got an email yesterday, so over a week now confirming my account had been opened, but now need to wait 5/10 days for details.
They send you further paperwork regarding the payments switch, luckily!0 -
I would hope and prey that you dont get accepted! I have just received my card (Visa Electron), pin number and Ebanking details and went online to view the account (Current account and Esaver account)
It never struck me when I received the card that a Visa Electron is a basic non-debit card! I have just come off the phone to Santander, or rather I was cut off after requesting being put through to the account cancellation department! I had called firstly to enquire why my account wasn't showing an overdraft facility which I had requested, albeit only a £100 overdraft like I currently have as I dont want to borrow money, I just like having that little buffer should anythting go wrong. Also I wanted to open a second account as I currently have with the RBS a Royalties Private number 1 account that my salary is paid into every month, and a standard number 2 account which I use as a bill account to pay all the direct debits etc from. When I queried the absence of an overdraft the lady (who I could not understand very well as she was foreign) told me I had to go to a branch with a copy of my existing bank account statement as proof me already having an overdraft! I explained that their website claimed to offer a "painless transfer process" or something along those lines and this seemed to be anything but, more so because the whole reason for me doing an online application was because due to constantly working I do not have the time to visit a high street branch. I then questionned the lack of a Visa Debit Card aand was told that this was standard with new accounts and I would receive one 6 months after the account was opened!!!!
This was when I requested that the account was cancelled, she offered to put me through to the cancellation department and after being on hold for 5 minutes I was subsequently cut off!
My advice would be to avoid Santander at all costs! I dont have a lot of love for the RBS even after being a customer for the past 21 years but I felt a sense of loyalty to them after my father had worked as a manager for them, but after this shambolic first experience with Santander they come out looking positively angelic in comparisson! And yes, I am fully aware that the RBS has been taken over by Santander... God help us!!!
I would say I am now faced with an almighty battle to get this account cancelled with them!0 -
I was moving because I have had enough of Natwest, but its look like a case of out of the frying pan, into the fire so to speak.
I shall see what arrives in the post, if its a VISA Electron I'll just destroy it. They did tell me they don't do those cards anymore, but they also said run your account for 6 months before applying for anything else.0 -
Having just called back and spoken to a different person I have been told that the Electron, although being phased out, is the only card available to me until at least a 2 month history with the bank has been developed. I was also informed that the overdraft option is something that has to be applied for at your local branch. This does not sound right to me and is absurd so I once again requested to cancel the account/s which are now open but in order to do this I have to visit a local branch and take all the communication I have received from Santander along with 2 x forms of ID.
Lesson learned I suppose, I won't be venturing away from the RBS any time soon after this debacle.0 -

Based on my experience, i reckon you'll get a letter at some point with a card attached.
Also, i got a Visa Debot card striaght off with zero history with this bank.0 -
Funny, I've just switched to natwest to escape Santander! :rotfl:Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0
