This is weird, I can tweet Grogglelumps then immediately come up in a search but yet #giftcardgiveaway or giftcardgiveaway I don't appear at all, not on the PC anyway, yet I do on my iPhone.

The reason you aren't showing up in Twitter search is that within the last few months Twitter has changed the way retweets show up in the search.

When the retweet button was first introduced everytime the button was used you would appear individually in the search results. However fairly recently this was changed and all the retweets made using the retweet button are grouped together (I think so that the search doesn't become clogged up with with the same message over and over)

So if you search #giftcardgiveaway now, the names that appear are those people who didn't use the RT button but manually retweeted/Copy and pasted/or accessed twitter via an external or 3rd party app like Tweetdeck or Twitter for blackberry). Everyone who used the RT button is grouped together underneath the orignal tweet. (If you search back far enough you'll find it and it'll have retweed by 100+ people underneath it - or you and 100+ people if you used the button). Your name WON'T be shown individually in the search results.

Twitter is a nightmare. It's so slow to load anything on my computer.

Interesting that it appears that in theory we could win each day up until Friday, so a possible £300 worth of gift cards could be mine...here's hoping

although it does say only 1 win per person throughout the competition is permitted

They use 'Hootsuite' so I think they will be able to check though that who the first Re-Tweets were.

For those who are not sure if you Re-tweeted or not. On your twitter page (Under 'Direct Messages' and 'favourites') there is a 'Retweets' button. If you click on that and then 'Re-tweets by you' you can see if you did or did not re-tweet it' Sorry if thats already been said, dont fancy checking back through.

When I re-tweeted it said "re-tweeted by you and 24 others" so I'm hoping there's a chance of a win.
