FAQ's

1. How do I enter?

A. You need to Retweet the competition message when it appears on http://twitter.com/hmunitedkingdom , you'll be given a ten minute warning beforehand, there are two methods, either:

a) click the retweet button below and to the right of the message, AND THEN CLICK YES!!!
b) Copy the message & paste it into the Whats happening box on your twitter homepage

Either method works and people have won using both.

2. I got the message "Retweeted by You and 32 others" so that means I was 33rd and have won...right???

A. No, not definitly. You might have done though. These numbers don't reflect the actual time your retweet has been logged by Twitter, you may have been around the 30th to click the button but your retweet still has to worm itself through the system and be logged. In the retweet melee it might get delayed or lost:(

3. How do I know that my Retweet has been recieved?

It looks like lots have people have retweeted but it hasn't been logged by Twitter, to check go to the Twitter search engine: http://search.twitter.com type in your Twitter username and giftcardgiveaway, if there are no results or todays entry is not on the list it hasn't been logged:(

4. What can I do if my Retweet hasn't been recieved?

A. First check why this may be:

a) Have you created your Twitter account in the last 24 hours? - If so then your Retweets won't be shown on the search as the system hasn't recognised you yet, best plan here is to copy and paste as this will be more likely to show.

b) Is your Twitter profile set to private? - You'll need to go to your Twitter homepage, click "Settings" in top right corner, and look at "Tweet Privacy" If the tick box is ticked then you won't show up in the search or be entered.

c) If none of the above applies - Bummer! You've been unlucky and your tweet is lost, it happens, Twitter is rather unreliable at the best of times. Doubly unlucky if its happened twice in a row, perhaps your best bet is to copy and paste next time - its much more likely to show up, try practising doing it quickly, you could still win, remember people are clicking the Retweet button instantly but it doesn't get logged straight away, you still have a chance!

5. Do I really have to sit all day watching my screen for the comp to start, it's sunny outside!?

A. To be safe yes....If you want somewhat of a life you could possibly sign of for SMS alerts, see here for details it'll cost you 1 text message to validate your phone but recieving them is free.

6. I hate this competition/H&M/Twitter I want to wring their puny annoying necks!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

A. To be fair its not all H&M's fault, missing retweets are a Twitter problem. They made a mistake the first day for sure and haven't acknowledged that yet but they 'seem' on track now. They've chosen an unstable medium, Twitter, to host their competition and the messages saying "you and xxx number of people" have got people upset as it seems for all the world like they've won, but these number are irrelevant really, only the time Twitter logs thats you've retweeted can be checked. But if you need a local hitman to take down these incompetant corporate monsters, then feel free to look one up

Retweeting is different to tweeting. Retweeting usually means that they tweet a message then you click the retweet button.

Tweeting is writing your own message.

HOWEVER... in this case I think H&M have got the terms mixed up and what you'll actually need to do is tweet and not retweet.

I popped on Twitter and followed them, so I'll just have to try to look in at odd times from the start and, hopefully, tweet in time!

I cant find anywhere where it says what actual time it starts so do we assume its one minute after midnight?

I assume so but I doubt they'd be that cruel to have the special hour at like 3am or something. I would think it would be more inbetween office hours i.e. 9-5.

In a way I hope it's not though, as I work 9-5.30 and with travelling time I'm out between 8.30-6. It would be great if some of the giveaway periods are outside office hours but unlikely. However some tweets from H&M have been made late at night so fingers crossed.

It looks like there is some discrepancy between what hashtag you are supposed to be using, the terms and conditions are saying use: #thegiftcardgiveaway but they've been tweeting #giftcardgiveaway so not sure which one you'll need to be using? Its been pointed out to them on twitter but I don't quite understand their answer! I think they want you to use #giftcardgiveaway

Someone said they've changed the T&Cs so that you use the #giftcardgiveaway
