The fax offering may be more useful - remember that 0845 numbers cannot be called from abroad but 0870 ones can. Can anyone trying the service report back to this thread on how good?

I've just noticed this thread her eabout our telco services.

We can indeed set up personalised greetings for our voice to email service.

All you need to do is email helpdesk@aceinternet.co.uk with the telephone number that was assigned and a WAV file with your message. We can then apply the message for you.

And if anyone has any other questions, we will be happy to help you.

That sounds like a huge improvement - I must dig out my Ace voicemail number again and consider using it after all.
I assume you also need some proof that the sender is actually the number holder?
One other little thing - why is the volume level so low on playback when compared with other things coming thru my soundcard? Or is this just my setup? I tried setting all the sliders to max but no better.

Tiscali NetPhone (http://fax.tiscali.co.uk) offers a fax servcie which I use; 0871 number, free for me to receive, 10p per page to send.

Try https://www.j2.com there you can get either an 0870 number free that forwards to your email in box or a random US number again that forwards free. Alternatively you can subscribe and have one of a number of UK codes, who knows you may be able to get a code local to you like I have. Also if you subscribe you can fax direct from your pc via the internet. I have been using the service for about 5 years and it is excellent.
