If you are in there long enough to read then you need to eat more fruit and veg!! or wait longer until you go. I've never understood why people take so long in the loo (unless they have a medical problem).0

The only time I read on the loo is when returning from working away from home for a few days - I grab the mail and sort out the junk from the bills. Think this is more a female multi-tasking thing tho
I do like to read in the bath though. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
Another girl who reads on the loo here.
One of my male friends is rather grim. We were CAMPING on a site with 10,000+ other people and he dropped his Bible down the pan in the portaloo.
As it was a Christian camp where a Bible is helpful to have, he fished it out and dried it off, and used it the rest of the week.
There have to be some limits to money saving...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Many years ago my best friend went to the doctor as she was suffering from constipation. He recommended fibogel, drinking more water and reading on the toilet! He said the trouble with women is that you all want to be in & out as quickly as possible & that is not healthy, you should take your time & then some! Take a book!
Since then I always have something in there that I don't actually want to read but feel I should. Like the planning application that has just landed on my mat (next door at it again!). Also I revised for my psychology 'O' level on the loo! Things that I wouldn't be tempted to curl up in an armchair and read, but that I might as well read a page of 'whilst I'm in there'.0 -
I've got a small library of books in my downstairs loo and I take a handheld Solitaire game in the upstairs one. It's too boring pooing with no entertainment.
As for the germs pointed out by some squeamish women, the same happens to any toothbrush you keep in a bathroom. So now you'd better keep your toothbrush somewhere else or in a sterilised box in the bathroom.:rotfl:0 -
I read in the loo (and I'm female). So does my OH!
Really don't see how it's weird! We wash our hands, and the book / magazine doesn't touch anything, ahem "dirty" in there, so how can there be an issue?!
Too true about the toothbrush btw Moneygonewhere? ........also I wonder if everyone who is saying it is disgusting or horrible to read in the loo washes their hands religiously every time they go - given that so many people don't?!

IF YOU'RE SKINT......
Do I need it? Can I afford it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?
IF YOU'RE NOT SKINT......
Will I use it? Is it worth it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?0 -
My husband tells me he can't concentrate on a No2 without some reading material and when he's just about to go, he'll grab anything - usually the free local newspaper that's delivered weekly. He'll reads it cover to cover and spends at least 15 mins in there whereas I'm 2 mins max.
Recently he's started leaving Mens Mags (clean ones ie FHM etc) by the side but due to bleach spilling on to the mag, it left some lovely pink splodges on his boxers. He wasn't amused but I was!:D0 -
Apparently I used to read whilst sat on the potty as a tot, a habit that I've not shaken off.
It's something to do whilst you're doing your doings! Otherwise I'd get bored ( s**tless)!!Booo!!!0 -
As a male, I tend to read quite happily on the loo. I deal with my finances on the toilet, writing out cheques, calling companies to pay bills by card etc. We’ve had to remove your signature.
