Just to warn fellow MSE friends. Be careful if you shop at Argos. My local store is fab at accepting refunds but my parents' local store in Spalding is the opposite. We found they would not accept a genuine item for refund and their customer service was poor. My parents have lost £40 for no good reason.

What was the item? I have found this really makes a difference with returning things to Argos.
Edit: just read your other thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2678727

There was a good reason as you have been told on the other thread you have created"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

She didn't like the answers she got first time, so posted a shortened version, avoiding the details, to flame Argos and make people think it was the store that was wrong0

The OP has also posted on the "Praise, vent & warnings" section. I have no idea what good spamming these forums will do!0 -
You had no rights to a refund when you posted your other thread, and you still have no rights to a refund.
At least you know what to get your parents for Christmas, a nice shiny new tape measure so they don't by something too big again.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I have to say I disagree I have always found my local Argos is very good. They are always helpful and polite and if I have had a problem with an item they have refunded my money or asked if I would like another. Can't see what else they could do for your case as from your other thread you were not entitled to a refund. Thanks for any help and advice given

People seem to have the misconception that once you buy something from a shop you can return it just because you don't want it. Legally if it's not faulty the shop doesn't have to accept anything back. Returns policies like Argos or even M&S are a choice made by the shop so you don't have any right. So if they refuse due to any reason you do not have a leg to stand on.
The moral is if you buy something make sure you want it and don't bank on a refund.0 -

I recently just took a item back to argos as i wasnt happy with the quality of it (xbox wireless headset and it kept cutting out which i realise may have been due to the wireless function). I explained and argos offered me a choice between a refund, replacement or something else in store.
So cant really fault my local argos in any way.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

This is the problem, with so many mainstream shops having generous returns policies consumers now seem to think they hold all the cards and should be able to return anything for any reason.
