She, like me, has seen other peoples HD tellys and is not all that impressed.

I hope you're referring to your TV. :rotfl:

That's one in the eye for me:D

It's the other way round! We bought a HD ready Sony 4 years ago and it's still going strong. It's HD ready but only 720p.

I would love one of the new Sony's that have freeview HD, internet connection and all the bells and whistles but how do I convince her?

    How >

is your HD ready 720 Sony connected to the feed ?

    - Scart
    - HDMi

I'll bet~a~lot that if you had even a 720 HDMi fed signal to the TV you would be looking a totally different tele.

I'll bet~a~lot that the neighbours / friends TV's you have seen that are carp are also using Scart, or they don't know how to set them up !

I'll bet~a~lot that just changing from Scart to HDMi will improve any translation between fed and output signal. Unless people have the skills of alienRIK and others getting a decent [ picture ] setup is not easy.

In my opinion the size of the TV affects the difference in quality between HD and SD.

I have a 50 inch TV and there is a huge difference between HD and SD channels yet my parents have a 32 inch TV and there is little difference in the quality.

You might have a point because it's a 32 inch TV!
