Those that have the Galaxy S....
How do you get on with the physical size of the thing, I was playing with one earlier in a phone shop and compared to my 5800 it's huge. As I'm due an upgrade very soon, unsure as to whether it well be just too bulky in my pockets?
The phone is so light and so slim I keep finding myself patting my pocket to check whether its in there0 -
to the person who wants to use the samsung galaxy s in an nhs hospital over wifi.....
as far as i am aware most nhs hospitals use proxies for internet access. i guess their wifi will require this too. many android phones have trouble connecting to wifi over proxies. so please check whether this feature is needed from your tech support. tech support might assume the phone might have the feature. i am not so sure it has that feature. also check if the wifi is wifi N type. the hardware of the samsung galalxy s is wifi N capable but its software is still android 2.1 and 2.1 android cannot do wifi N. so tread with caution.
dont bet your horses on the GPS unit working properly on the galaxy s. do google search for this problem on the unit. same for synching issues.
the phone is great but has some bugs like most phones.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
I have just got the Galaxy S and I love it. Can't compare to the iphone 4 though as I haven't used one of them.
The swype feature is brilliant. I generally avoided texting like the plague with my old phone as I found predictive really frustrating. If you are comfortable with a qwerty layout it is so fast to use.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -

Known problem on some sets mine is about a 100 yards out . Fix due from Samsung in September .
Very pleased with my choice of Galaxy instead of HTC Desire £330 O2 PAYG , IPhone never in contention as i keep clear of Apples restricted practices .

The other half has spoken to he techies at the hospital and they are "confident" that they will be able to get the phone to work on the NHS wifi system that is avalible to staff. It will not be connecting to the open wifi version that some other users have been trying to piggy back on.
I called M T to buy the phone on the 12 month contract and it is out of stock until Monday. I have told the wife if she doesn't get on with it I will get the I4 early next year and swap with her. Will do anything for a quiet life.....
Do most women leave it up to the other half to sort out techie phones etc ???0 -

I was thinking of getting an iPhone 4 (if anywhere had had any stock a few weeks ago I'd have ended up with one) but am sooooooo glad that I got the Galaxy instead.
I was running a jaibroken iPhone 3G with IOS4 and the iPhone 4 to be honest doesn't feel any different. It might have a better camera but then that's just playing catchup with where most other phones already were.
The Galaxy feels streets ahead of the iPhone (like getting out of a 1970's Capri into a new Porsche). I didn't like swype at first and carried on with the old dabbing at the letters method, but once I'd given it a proper go I'm hooked. I just wish I could buy a full size PC swype keyboard.
Best thing is being free from the restrictions Apple place on you. If you've ever tried downgrading from one firmware update to an earlier release you'll know how difficult Apple try to make this and how much control they have over your handset.
Nice features are the micro-sd slot so storage is pretty much unlimited (take note Apple) and you can swap the battery over to a spare should you ever run flat (note 2 to Apple). The handset feels no bigger than my iPhone but is much lighter. Tethering is a doddle.
The only thing I don't like about it is the micro-usb port is on the top edge of the phone so this rules out a docking arangement as convenient as the iPhone.

I went for the iPhone 4 over the galaxy after researching a lot. In the end I realised the i4 build quality is much better. The Galaxy seems very plasticky, almost like a toy. When I spoke to a salesperson regarding the build poor build quality he said "well it's Samsung, what else do you expect!"
Go for iPhone, you won't regret it. Go for the Samsung if you want to regret your plasticky purchase for the next 12 months!0 -
