    Hi,

I'm a newbie on this thread, OH and I have decided that it's time we get started on our own little family.

I've come off the pill and have the 1st day of my period today. I expect this to be an odd one as I took two packs on the trot so that we could get through our wedding without having my period.

Is there a link to all the codes that are used on the thread? I'm at a bit of a loss with the whole secret language thing!

Does nayone advise where I can pick up packs of pregnancy tests? Even Tesco own ones are £3 for two (I think?) and in true MSE style this cost could mount up.

    Thanks!
    Icey xx

Kitten - Do you mean that FF is telling you to test on 19th April? Or is AF due on 9th April? Otherwise your LP will be 22 days long, which doesn't seem right.

Either way, you can test from about 14 DPO onwards (depending on how long your LP usually is). FF recommends that you wait until you are 18 DPO's before testing for the first 2 months as it is still trying to figure out what is normal for you.

Sore knockers is also an AF symptom. Do you usually get that before AF? Or, is this new for you? My AF is due by Monday and my knockers are currently so sore that when OH tried to get amarous last night I responded by saying 'Touch my b00bs and DIE!'! hahahahaha

    Hi and welcome Icey! :D

A list of all the abbreviations is on the first page I think. It's a bit daunting at first, but you soon start to pick it up.

I believe the others buy IC (Internet Cheapy) HPT's (Home Pregnancy Tests) from Amazon or the like. They are good for peeing on when you just can't wait any longer! lol

Rebekah, it is wierd the first time, especially after being with a certain someone for so long and BD'ing for the first time without protection :) we were together over 9 years before I came off the pill last year. looking at your chart though you've nothing to worry about, you won't be fertile at this time in your cycle ;)
Yup thats what I told him LOL. He said you know what they teach you at school you can get pregnant at any time - even during your period ... Scare mongers LOL

Yea it was really weird! 9 years for us in June too!:T

Kitten Pie & Euro, sore (.)(.)'s are a good sign. When I got my BFP I noticed mine were sore from 7 or 8 dpo, TLP on HPT at 9dpo. Fingers crossed for the both of you :)

Welcome Icy :) as euro said the abrieveations are on page one, but ask if you're not sure ;)

I get my IC's from ebay, found a seller I like and stuck to that one. Amazon is very popular for OPK's (ovulation predictor's) and HPT's too. I would highly reccomend temping, and joining fertility friend. Once you get the hang of fertility friend and using the thermometer every day you'll get an idea of how long your cycle's are and just when your fertile time is. I came off the pill in June 2010 and had a fairly short cycle followed by a 90 day cycle then my body seemed to regulate. Good luck along your journey, hope its a short one.

You arn't alone as my friend is also going to have IVF this month. She is on CD 28 now. Tested this am - Negative. Has period pains so it's all on now. Waiting for period to be over then going for collection on day 12/13 something like that.

    Secret Language code:

Link to abbreviations courtesy of MadMac from previous threads - http://www.tryingtoconceive.com/abbrevs.htm
    The most common ones are:

CD - Cycle date (CD1 is the 1st day of period)
DPO - Days past ovulation (if ovulation was on CD15, then that is 0DPO, CD16 is 1DPO)
    OV - ovulation
IC - Internet cheapie (IC OPKs, hpts)
    OPK - ovulation predictor kits
    SS - symptom spotting
BD - Baby dance (making babies)
    AF - Aunt Flo (period)
    CBFM - Clearblue fertility monitor
    Temp - temperature (BBT)
SBDTA - Sticky baby dust to all
TLP - Tiny little positive (faint positive on pregnancy test)
I use these preg tests from Amazon. I've also bought the digi ones (for when I've got a tlp/BFP on an IC) cos they were half(ish) price what they are in the shops...they're ready and waiting ;)

Just a quick questions about testing.

As you can see above i am CD37 and 11DPO according to my calendar CD1 is due 19th April. Should AF not show, do I really have to wait another 2wks ish to test? I am really anxious as my (.)(.) are really sore, its probably just my body faking symptoms but want to know as if not I should probably get them checked at the docs.
You can test as soon as AF is due KP (earlier, in theory, with some of the more sensitive ones like First Response), you don't need to wait a further 2 weeks after that...if that's what you meant from what I read lol. Euro's right though - it's usually a sign of hormones, whether AF or pregnancy - I get them at various points, so I wouldn't worry too much either way, unless they've changed shape/feel/colour more than normal hormone fluctuations would account for. :)

Hope it doesn't come to that QQ, but I'm glad you have a backup plan :)

Thanks Cleo, but OH and I are not TTC'ing yet. We are waiting to TTC. lol. Am I'm impatient! :rotfl:

Currently have an IUD fitted though so I can get used to a natural cycle and figure out what is normal for me, which is also why I am using FF.

Although, all that said, my temps are quite high. But, am feeling a bit rough. I thought it was hayfever, but now I don't know. Maybe it's a cold? Still waiting for my presc meds to kick in. I only picked them up this morning. If it is a cold, it is a p'ssy of a cold that is dragging on (slight sore throat started Friday last week).

I don't know how I'd feel if I fell pregnant with the IUD in. I had a miscarriage 11 years ago, age 17, and I'm terrified it will happen again, especially so if I fell pregnant with the IUD in. Or, if it did happen, it would most likely be ectopic (according to the med bods) because of the IUD and that scares me too.

I suspect the IUD is doing it's job though as I have had a few AF style twinges today. And I'm very irritable right now. Excel......if it was a living person, would be getting it's @rse kicked right now! Arghhhhhh
