Pawpurrs don't know if you are still reading here (we've had our pregnancy thread closed down if you were trying to find us) but have all been thinking of you. Sorry it turned out to be such horrid news.

Take your time to grieve for your little angel and best of luck for the future.

i am having to go under the knife and ttc!
long story short i have been ttc for 3 years now unfortunately with little success.
i am awaiting a date for surgery and just wondered i know it may sound stupid question can you be pregnant and get an op. i know its not adviseable.

my question is - has anyone gone through with an op while pg?
any medical staff who can pass info is appreciated
    and any thought/comments

    many thanks in advance

VK-2008 l do understand, l've 'been there'. You will know when the op comes round whether your pg or not and you could always do a test to be sure, so that should put your mind at rest.

Like lots of things you wil hear good and bad stories of people who HAVE had ops whilst unknowingly pregnant or even emergency surgery whilst pregnant, but l think more stories will be positive.

    Good luck xxx

    Happy moneysaving all.

It depends on the operation - I had surgery on my hand when I was 13 weeks pregnant with my current bump. It was done under local anaesthetic, so surgeon, midwives and GP were all perfectly happy. The only restriction was on painkillers afterwards, which, being my hand and having lots of nerve endings, was very sore, but being so early in the pregnancy, I couldn't take the risk.

I think it might be different if it were a GA, or major surgery. Can you talk to your consultant and ask their thoughts?
  • Usually when you go for your pre op check they ask if you might be pregnant, and if you have any possibility they will give you a pregnancy test.

  • I had to put off having my wisdom teeth out under a general last year due to pregnancy. Shame.
