Trying for a Baby Part Six

There are some foods you shouldn't eat during pregnancy because they could:
cause food poisoning,
or harm your unborn baby
Cheese
Don’t eat mould-ripened soft cheese, such as brie or camembert. You should also avoid soft blue-veined cheese, such as Danish blue.
Cheeses like this can contain listeria, a bacteria that causes listeriosis. This can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth or severe illness in a newborn baby.
Eggs
Don’t eat raw or undercooked eggs and avoid foods that contain them, such as homemade mayonnaise.
Make sure that eggs are thoroughly cooked until the whites and yolks are solid. This prevents the risk of salmonella food poisoning.
Milk
Don’t drink raw (unpasteurised) milk, including unpasteurised goats’ or sheep’s milk. Don’t eat food that is made out of them, such as soft goats’ cheese.
If only raw or green-top milk is available, boil it first.
Pât!
Avoid all types of pât!, including vegetable pât!s, as they can contain listeria.
Meat
Don’t eat raw or undercooked meat.
Cook all meat and poultry thoroughly so there’s no trace of pink or blood. Take particular care with sausages and minced meat.
Liver
Don’t eat liver or liver products, such as liver pât! or liver sausage, as they may contain a lot of vitamin A. Too much vitamin A can harm your baby.
Vitamin A
Don’t take:
high-dose multivitamin supplements
fish liver oil supplements
any supplements containing vitamin A
Fish
There are some types of fish you should limit, such as tuna and oily fish, and some types of fish you should avoid completely, such as shark.
Also, don’t eat raw shellfish, as it can cause food poisoning.
Alcohol
Avoid drinking alcohol if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Too much exposure to alcohol can seriously affect your baby's development. For more information, see Can I drink alcohol if I’m pregnant?
Caffeine
Don’t have more than 200mg of caffeine a day. High levels of caffeine can cause babies to have a low birth weight. Too much caffeine can also cause a miscarriage. Caffeine is found naturally in some foods and is added to some soft drinks. For more information, see Should I limit caffeine during pregnancy?
Toxoplasmosis
Wash fruit, vegetables and salads to remove all traces of soil, which may contain toxoplasma, a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasma is also found in the following foods, so avoid eating:
undercooked or raw meat
raw cured meat, such as salami and parma ham (prosciutto)Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Having c+p all of that, during my pregnancies i had been advised to avoid raw egg foods (mayo, cream cheese etc) and pate but other than that my midwife was fairly laid back about it all - I think its best to bear the advice in mind but dont feel worried by it all
P.S.
Not posted in ages but still reading, congratulations to the BFP's !!Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -

My you've been chatty:shocked:
Can't read back now, but hope you are all well, will be back tonight:wave:0 -
Well the best plans don't always work - Moon and I tried to BD on Tuesday (second egg day on CBFM), and although he could get it up, he couldn't ejaculate - he tried for ages too
. Then yesterday we tried again, as I had the high reading again, and he couldn't again. Don't know what's wrong - he doesn't either. Hope that we've still got a chance though.
Thanks for the tip about the CBFM QQ - when you say stop feeding the sticks, do you still turn it on every morning or what?
Back is still bad - think it's a posture problem rather than too much BD I'm afraid - I've noticed that if I cross my legs it hurts, so it's obviously some sort of twisting that I do if I sit that way, and I also notice it in the car when I'm driving. Will go back to the doctor if it continues for much longer. Thanks for the tip about the long walk - will have to try it.
Hugs for Bigzippy and everyone else who is feeling low. Love the PMA about the boobies emsbet - I really hope that happens to my boobs.
Moon is organising a belated birthday bbq for me on Sunday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is ok. I had to check out all of the food during pregnancy too as I didn't want to eat anything that could cause problems. I'm pleased to find out that I can still eat cream cheese, cheddar, feta, halloumi and any hard cheeses that have been pasturised and don't have a mold in them or around them. I found that the NHS website was really useful for a list of foods you can eat during pregnancy.
Hope everyone is well,

It's likely to be stress / performance anxiety.
It must actually be quite stressful for our men when they know that it's the fertile period and it's the one chance in the month and that if they fail they have to put up with us sulking when we get our BFN's :rotfl:
I wouldn't worry too much.
Hubby would kill me if he knew I was about to say this but he has a problem in that area. It's got to the point that he's having an operation next week to be circumcised. Hopefully that will help matters but it means we'll not be able to BD for a good month. That's not a huge problem as we can't at the moment because of me - still waiting to get the all clear following my biopsy.0 -
hi ladies,
not been on much as nothing to report i have just got a CBFM thanks to a lovely lady - now im on CD13 but i want to start using it this month as i should be ov any day soon - if i set the cbfm to c5 and if i say ov cd15-16 (cbfm cd7/8) or whenever will it still show me as a peak or am i just wasting my time0 -

I think Fannyanna might be right, he maybe finding the pressure a bit much. It is difficult for them to have to perform at set times. This is why I don't tell Mr Emsbet much about when I ov - I just tell him which week it is in so there doesn't seem like there is one day he has to "perform". Sometimes too much knowledge can be a bad thing.
Hopefully your BDing before Tuesday was well timed.Moon is organising a belated birthday bbq for me on Sunday, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is ok.
Hope the weather stays nice for you.

Patience is a virtue I lack!0 -
Thanks guys - I think it was also because he felt tired too, so he wasn't really in the right mindspace either. He thinks he needs more recovery time and can't do it every day during the fertile period. I can understand that, and I know that medical advice is that you should BD every couple of days, but it's hard to not want to do it every day during that time just in case we miss the egg.
Hope your DH's operation goes well next week fannyanna - I've heard that circumcisions heal very quickly. My Dad is circumcised but I'm not sure why.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
