So whats the issue? you went against the terms of the contract I presume and the increased amount is the cost for sending to CreditLink.
If you checked

all the warnings they sent me

you wouldnt have to pay all the money.

Its your fault not theirs.

When a case has been passed to a collection agency the company charges a fee for their time and effort in pursuing you for money. I agree that if you failed to read their warnings then you have to accept some responsiblity. The other cases on here where people have tried to cancel their accounts seem to have a reasonable point, but if you just ignored correspondence from them which presumably warned you of the predicament, then it's another one to chalk up to experience.

I expect if you kick up enough of a stink they might drop some of the charges as a goodwill gesture, but personally, I wouldn't if it were up to me.

Edit - have just re-read the section about your card expiring - if your card had not expired then I fully support your stance. The above only applies if the error was at your end. I hope that you do manage to resolve it to your satisfaction - am not completely mean!

seems like a lot of people are getting treated as debters by the movie rental companys .
i cancelled my account through the proper channels of mymoviestream ltd,but nearly 18 months later here was a dvd from them in my post box,ow i thought dont tell me they are trying to pull a fast one on me ,well they was ,they only went ahead and set up a new direct debit for £9.99 from my bank account making out that it was myself that actioned it or i gave them permission.
well straight on to my bank to get this cancelled and ask why this was allowed in this day and age when so much fraud is around,they said they were going to look in to this as this was fraud on mymoviestream ltd part and i got my money straight back .
now phoned mymoviestream ltd to find out what is going on,the guy on the phone was very very cheeky and said i had not cancelled my account 18 months ago.
i then asked well why is it only now that a dvd disc has been posted out to me , he then said cos they set up a new direct debit on my bank account ,bloody cheek of them,and they have tryed to get money from my account every month for 18 months ,even though it is the same bank account i asked why is it only now you have managed to get the money and he laughts and says cos we set up a new direct debit and i still owe them another 18 months payment, to which i tell him he mymoviestream ltd aint getting any money from me cos i dont owe them anything cos i cancelled ,hanged up on him just got cheek from him.
now c a r s credit account recovery solutions are chasing me for £214.80.i have phone them and tryed!!!!!!!!! to explain it all to them ,to which there reply is we dont care, no we wont get in touch with mymoviestream ltd its up to me to do that ,even though i told them the story there,and was told by the guy that they will keep sending out debt recovery letters to my self till its payed.
now i get 2 LETTERS PER WEEK FROM THEM ,
2 TEXT MESSAGES PER WEEK,
and up to 4 PHONE CALLS PER WEEK , day or night and early sat mornings.
just off the phone to them cos got my 2 LETTERS YET AGAIN, tryed yet again to explain, but also told them that it is now harassment from them under section 40 of the administration of justice act, ow and at the start told them that the phone call was getting recorded, but got the same answers from him ,that he doesnt care about that its not harassment and yes they will continue to send letters and phone me.
less than 2 minutes of putting down the house phone ,here they are C A R S PHONING MY MOBILE (OMG) ,he asks me to confirm my address to him, so i told him no i will not and that i was just off the phone to his office didnt you know this ,he laughts , asks again to confirm my address i say no goodbye then he gets in to the C A R S way of things aggressive tone ,threats, and then tells me ow he thinks he will log this phone call , saying im drunk ,im on drugs, im shouting,more laughts from him then says ok so im not paying this £214.80 i owe ok hes says i will phone you tomorrow again see you then , then he hangs up.
SORRY ITS SO LONG BUT I KNOW THERE MUST BE LOTS MORE OUT THERE GETTING THE SAME TREATMENT FROM THEM AS I AM ,AND NEEDED TO LET PEOPLE NOW ABOUT THESE KIND OF SO CALLED PROFESSIONAL COMPANYS WHO ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED TO OPERATE .
ANY HELP OR IDEAS OR STORYS LET ME KNOW AND TJHANKS FOR LISTENING , LOL .

my policy with people like this is too download a really high pitch sound file from the interent, and when they phone up put my speakers on max, play the sound file, answer the phone and put it right up against the speaker.

So far I've never had another call from the companys involved

Or to be funny, load up a website with a soundboard of someone like arnie and just put the phone to the speaker and choose something for Arnie to say. Its great fun

nobody really sets out to work in a call centre
its crumby work most do for the flexi hours eg parents or students trying to make ends meet

To be fair custardy with debt collection agencies, due to their tactics a blast of music will be the only way to get rid of them.

However I don't condone the laziness or ignorance of some of the posters on this board about contracts. Simply not paying companies doesn't mean they won't try and force a contract on you.

TPS doesn't work if it's a company that you have a consumer relationship with, or some connected firm. It's only the cold calling tosspots that it applies to.

ok you have lost me ,where in my first postings have i been out of order in what i wrote or how i said it ?.

as to your last reply eyesight issues??? whats that all about?.

first of all why have you even wrote your first reply i asked for advice to my problem im having with debt company,and to hear from people who have had same problems, not from someone who maybe workes for a debt company by the things you say in it or as you put it a call center .

where is call center same as debt companys ???.

thank you so much for your last reply cos you have actually cheered me up ,i am now sitting here wetting my self with laughter as to why anyone would want to butt in and feel there input as to CALL CENTERS had any thing to do at all with my problem with debt companys harassment.

ow maybe custardy we should all just accept and give in to the bulling and harassment ,and believe as all debt companys belive that what they tell us is the truth and nothing but the truth and just have our lives ruined for the next 6 years, try explaining that to my children.

i didnt come on here to get even more hassle just cos someone doesnt like the truth told or said about DEBT COMPANYS not CALL CENTERS and why should i have to suffer fools .

maybe its msn or yahoo that your really looking for ,thats the general chit chat sites especially if your just after a challenge if you feel fit not to like what people have to say about your career, god i dont know.

i wish you no bad feeling as to all this and wish you the best of luck , but i have enought to deal with without any negative replys or bad feeling from anyone who is or should work for a call center and who sounds like they have a big chip on there shoulder.
