So is SD. ( on the correct type of screen, and from a good manufacturer ).;)

I still think that HD is over hyped.;)

If you, or anyone else for that matter, cannot see any difference then there is absolutely no reason to spend money on HD.

    Personally I appreciate the difference.

Hi, After reading this I thought I would ring Sky, on the free number from the other thread, and see what offers I could get. I told them I was thinking of getting a Freeview+ box but what could they offer me. I am now getting a Sky+HD box, installation and 6 months HD subscription all for free and a reduction of £10 a month on my package price of £23 a month for 6 months. I had been a customer for 10 years and have never bothered asking before. Others may not like Sky but I am really pleased with this offer so thanks very much.:T

That sounds good, I may mention it to my mother who still has her original Sky box.

So you are getting a free install (new LNB and cabling) and £13 a month for the first 6 months. Thereafter £33 a month?

    This a 12 month contract?

Hi, Yes all the equipment for free, the man said whatever needs replacing will be replaced, even the dish if it needs to be. Definitely the LNB and the cabling as it is different for Sky+HD. He said they just put your details in the computer and see what offers are available to you. He also offered the same deal but without the HD part of it, but then the installation would be £29. I did ask if they could do anything about the package price of £23 a month and it was reduced for 6 months so yes after that I will pay £33 for six months. It does seem to be pot luck though if you read what other people have been told when they have phoned to cancel.

Thanks for this post. I had been considering the HD box primarily for the extra storage but was put off by the cost. Used the 08000512597 number and went directly to disconnections. Used the freesat box approach and got the same deal. Worth remembering that if you find you don't use the HD channels then you can cancel that part of your subscription at the end of the first 12 months.
