Hi Iris, the 40k is combined income so your maternity pay would also count unfortunately....i read on another site that if your income is over £40k in 2011 they will be reducing payments by 41% in the first year and then completely phasing it out...so you might still get a very small amount this year............it is all a bit confusing.
I for one will definately miss the baby element as we have a 4 month old and it really helped with baby food and nappies etc.Credit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000 -
Thanks WABL.
I'll miss it too. I guess we'll know more when we get our P60s.
I guess we won't be moving house then. Funnily enough we just had a call about a viewing on Sunday.
Its not a lot of money Cath, oh well I'm sure we'll still be better off than some people. Thankfully we got rid of the credit cards in time.
I just phoned up about booking on the child minding course and the council aren't looking at doing them again until July due to budget cuts . Oh great...what next! This day is just getting worse.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
You do sound stressed today Iris.
The tax credit system just confuses me entirely. I try not to expect anything and then what i do get is a bonus. Iris - i think with me, you are right it is a good job both myself and DH were so savvy before kids. We are still quite good at paring to the bone when we want to, and money in savings is forgotten about till we need it.
It is gutting to watch those savings dwindle with no hope of replacing them quickly unless i overpay less.
Whatever situation we are in, we are going to want better for ourselves and our kids. What we need to think though, is at least we are fortunate compared to those who post about having no food in the house and no nappies for their baby. That must be truly scary to live that close to the bone.
We'll get there hon, so please try not to be too down today. Is DY really out of the question for you? I know rlc only writes one review per week, but thinks about what she is going to do and has done well. I think if you did even one you would get more into it, although i understand you are not that time rich at the minute.0 -

The rest of my reply didn't post!
Iris you have done so well, you are so much better off for having paid the CC - that was an amazing figure to clear.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I'm sorry ..I am stressed. I feel its all money at the moment . I just want to know what we are going to have financially. Perhaps I should do that too Michelle and work things out just off DHs wage. At least then I know if we are ok or not.
Its not been a good week this week I'm sorry. Sons have alot to answer for somtimes.

If it makes anyone feel better with DY, i signed up last March, and i think my first review was not written till July. And yes, some of your earlier reviews will be a bit bad. If you are scared, i can look at if you want before you publish and add my two pennorth. It is not a particularly fab rate of pay, but i find i can do it by having a window open most of the day, so when i get 2 minutes i can read/rate someone elses review, and i can write a fairly decent review in about 10 minutes of thinking/typing. I used to only write them at night, but i sometimes do it during the day now, and the kids are playing nearby. It is all about establishing a little routine, and do as much or little as i feel like.
Iris stressing will not be doing you any good at all. I know i do my fair share of it. Do what you can with what you can. You have already come such a long way, and it will get easier as the outstanding amount falls. Each time i overpay now, i am astounded at how much of an effect it has, whereas when we started it felt a bit hopeless as the daily interest was high and we still owed so much.
I hope the sun is out on you this afternoon and you get some fun time with your babies. xx Or at least get some washing outside, which i find equally cheery.0 -
That's what I find depressing is that even overpaying £221 until December still keeps us at £7.73 pd which is massive! I'm an emotional wreck at the moment aren't I ! I think I need to sort it out as I shouldn't be like this and its been 2 months running now.
anyway...
I've just spoke to my mother on the phone and I feel better now. I wish she was living nearby sometimes as even now at 37 I need my mum. I've been thinking for a while about starting my own business up but I'm not sure what I wanted to do. I think I've just realised what it is I'm suppose to be doing and and its been staring at me for a while. I won't say what it is yet - in case I fall flat on my face - but it is what I want to do and will enable me to earn some money and stay at home with the little ones. It turns out that my Mum is very good at it and I didn't even know!
I just got the follow up dvd survey through to do - another 4k in points!:j
Takeaway tonight - sweet and sour chicken I deserve it and its budgeted forI can't be bothered updating this anymore0
