Anyone Else think Tesco Groceries Home delivery has gone down hill?

  • I think they have been poor from the start. I never received 1 shop without a substituion (mostly there were more than one). They were regularly late. On the other end of the scale, I now use Ocado exclusively and, in the 18 months I have been shopping with them, I have not had one substitution and they are either on-time or call me to ask if they can deliver early.....

I have not really had problems with delivery but have noticed just lately lots of my items in my favourites seem to be out of stock and have been for months. This week Im trying Sainsburys as they have the items in stock which I need.

Not happy with either Tesco or Asda, so I will be trying Sainsbury's and Ocado. Are there any new customer codes for these?

That maybe so, but I tend to find they have a lot of stuff out of stock on the website. Their actual deliveries are the best (and most polite!) though. I've also used Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda, and nver been 100% happy with any of them.

Whenever I do an online shop I always say I'll do it instore next time, and vice versa (usually have at least one child in tow when I shop instore).
  • No doubt about it, Tesco online shopping is on the decline. Going rapidly downhill.

I cant believe the number of price changes (increases) that occur on the order receipt that were not on the order confirmation email.

Furthermore Tesco online customer support leaves a great deal to be desired. The attitude of the online staff when dealing with problems is arrogant and disturbing, and certainly unhelpful.

We stopped ordering milk online from Tesco because the milk was going off, anything from two to three days before the sell by date. This had happened for several weeks and we finally complained via email about the situation. We complained several weeks ago, and were promised a reply. Needles to say we are stll waiting for the reply.

Dissatisfaction with Tesco online shopping service can be easily solved I guess. However I begin to wonder if the alternative services will be an improvement . . . or just more of the same.

Sainsbury are better in my experience. Today I had a delivery from Tesco Home Non-Delivery. Some veg pots not supplied, no substitutions. Other veg pots are in stock, they just didn't bother. Two other items, too, were not delivered and could have been substituted.
I only put this order in because I had Tesco vouchers saved up, I'd intended, after previous problems with them,to stick to Sainsbury, and occasionally, Waitrose. (I'll just have to do without the clubcard points!)
And yes their staff can be very arrogant and the drivers, surly (some are very nice, but generally, they are not good.)

Also I can order from 'Sainsbury online' by phone if need be, or amend an online order by phone, and also the local store has a phone number, the Tesco store hides behind an 0845 number that hasn't so far got me anywhere... and if there are web site problems, tough.

Well my Sainsburys order arrived today and I was impressed, no substitutes and I booked 3-4pm slot and he arrived about 5 past 3, very polite and helpful delivery man too, so will try them for a couple of weeks and see how it goes.

theres a very long thread running on dicount vouchers with ocado codes

I often find that if I fill my basket on my supermarket and dont choose ocado (sometimes I choose no one, decide I dont need all that etc) then Ocado ALWAYS sends me a 20% off voucher for that week.

Ocado also has free delivery latre at night but the offers arnt quite as good but the quality of the meat and fresh produce is superb.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • The Tesco delivery service here went through a really bad patch but has improved a lot since they opened a large central warehouse instead of picking it from the local store.

I definitely feel though that I am not particularly valued as a customer and they have got too big and now take their customers for granted.

I emailed about the new site because I have huge problems getting it to work properly on internet explorer on my computer. It was passed on to the technical team two or three months ago and I haven't heard any more. I have now found firefox works instead and use that but if it hadn't been for that I would now be shopping in Sainsburys. I assume they don't care if they lose customers because they have so many.

I am now giving as much business as I can to local traders and cutting down the amount I buy from Tesco.

Never had much to complain about with Tesco. Had a bizarre substitution once or twice, and the occasional thing missing or damaged, but always had a swift refund when I've rung to complain. Fresh stuff normally has several days on it, if not I freeze it if possible, or send it back if not. Tried Sainsburys last week (had a £10 Nectar voucher) and was similarly impressed, but there were far more subs than I normally get with Tesco (including 4 loaves of bread substituted for 1 of the exact sort I had ordered, but they sent a choice of thick or medium - delivery man said I could keep both with their compliments and apologies, so sort of worked out OK, bar only having half the amount of bread we had needed!)
With Tesco, I would always recommend ringing the CS number as all comments get fedback to the dot com manager in store.
