Anyone Else think Tesco Groceries Home delivery has gone down hill?

Tully - If anything like this happens to me, I generally go on-line and find out the name of the chief executive. I then write (in proper old-fashioned manner) a LETTER addressed to him at the Head Office address. Never fails. If it's a genuine complaint - and yours is - the man in charge passes it onto someone who will deal with it pretty smart-ish. My last one was to Justin King, CEO of Sainsbury's - immediate phone call back to me, followed by an apologetic letter and a £10 gift voucher.
All of you who have been treated so badly by Tesco should write to its CEO - is it Sir Terry Leahy?0 -
I've noticed a definate downshift in Tesco's attitude to customer loyalty and retaining that loyalty.
At one time they would have been trying to regain my custom if I was absent for a length of time, but not anymore. Perhaps they think I'm dead !
In my area they've long had the monopoly on grocery delivery but a year or so ago, Asda began delivering and now Sainsbury have and are due to open a big store next year.0 -
I stopped shopping with them 2 years ago as I noticed a lot of products were out of stock which meant having only half my shop so having to go shopping anyway or they were substituting items with something costing double the price! Also the amount of items missing from my shop, had something every week and they would never refund me as apparently I couldn't be that unlucky!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

I have had generally really good experiences with Tesco home delivery. I did the Asda one a couple of years ago but there were loads of rubbish substitutions so we stopped. We have now been doing Tescos for about 6 months and have never had more that one or 2 substitutions. The drivers have been really good about me rejecting substitutions if they are not suitable as well (something Asda used to always get in a strop about). We always go for a 9-11 delivery on a Tuesday evening and they are often here early but have been happy to wait if they have arrived before 9 and we are not in.
As for short use-by dates, I never select an item if it has the short shelf life warning on it online. I can't comment on the meat because I buy it elsewhere (i like to buy free-range) but everything else has been fine.
I wonder if the service you get varies store to store? My shopping comes from the Bidston branch on the Wirral.0 -
It does seem to vary store to store. I gave up on Tesco, because they were always late, I'm rubbish at waiting, but they turned up an hour and a half late one day and it drove me mad. So I went to Asda, which varies massively. My address obviously doesn't change, but I seem to be caught between Perry Barr and Small Heath in Birmingham. When it comes from Perry Barr it's perfect, to the point they scrub the main customer line number off the delivery note and ask you to contact the store manager if there's a problem. If it comes from Small Heath, it's abysmal. The last substitute that really annoyed me, was when I'd ordered a pack of raw chicken pieces and they sent me, barbecue flavoured hot and spicy chicken that was cooked. Their service at the door varies wildly too and their fruit, I've never known the soft fruit last longer than three days. If I buy ripe at home peaches, I expect them to ripe at home, not ripe overnight!
So now I've gone to Ocado. They tell me what's in stock on the day that I order. They text me in the morning, they turn up half an hour early and they warn me if something has a short product life, more than that, I really do appreciate that they have customer reviews on their website.0 -
I stoped buying fruit and veg from Tesco home delivery as it would go off in two days. Bread will be best before the day after delivery. And they can be very very late (nearly midnight once! - meant to be 6pm)
I know Asda is even worse locally so I now go to Co-Op and pick the shopping and they deliver free if its over £25, though some of their prices are a bit OTT!The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -
Yes. Tesco home delivery has gone downhill. And the last time I put in an order, I got told I'd given the wrong card number -- the one I'd stored with them... Customer services told me it was a problem with their site and I should redo the details and try again... same problem. Their tech support said my bank must have blocked my card. I tried another card, same problem..
They had blocked my account for 24 hours for trying again! (My card was fine, the numbers I gave them were fine.) I lost that delivery, luckily Sainsbury were able to do one. (Same card used.) But I had to pay 15 more as I had vouchers for the Tesco shop.
Tesco sent me an email telling me how to clear my cache to try to stop the problem happening again...
I complained using howtocomplain.com, no reply... I emailed from their site about this, I got a reply telling me to email using their site...
Sainsbury service is a lot better and their customer service call centre is better,too.0 -
I always told Tesco no substitutes, but they kept sending them and eventually I was caught out. I had some items delivered that weren't what I ordered but were in very similar containers. When I noticed, which wasn't immediately, I pointed it out to them and said that I wanted to take them to a local store to exchange. After much huffing and puffing, they gave me a voucher for less than half the amount I'd lost. I changed to Sainsbury's who are absolutely wonderful here.0

Few issues with substitutions, mainly the picker being unable to grasp basic weights and measures (if I order 3*2l bottles of cider, common sense would suggest this be subbed with 2*3l bottles and not just one 3l bottle because if they delivered the quantity I ordered they would have to price match) or Tesco, Leyland (a massive 24 hour store) having exhausted their entire supply of cola based beverages (ordered Tesco cola, no attempt to substitute) or baby wipes (ordered Tesco baby wipes, no attempt to substitute) in order to avoid price matching again (I don't believe for one minute that they didn't have any bottles of Coke or Pepsi or they didn't have huggies or pampers wipes but more likely worked out that they'd be price matching comparatively large sums and decided they didn't want to).
Usually an e-mail to their customer services pointing out they'd delivered the wrong quantity, or that I expected a major national retailer such as Tesco not to exhaust their entire supply of products such as cola or baby wipes as that demonstrates rather poor stock control would yield a partial refund and/or a gift card. There was one instance when they appeared not to pay much attention to my e-mails though as there was one occasion we identified a faulty batch of macaroni cheese which was missing the macaroni, provided Tesco with the full details from the affected tins to assist them in removing the affected batch from their stores, got a reply acknowledging the issue and a refund and then in our next shop got further affected tins from the same batch0 -
Never had a problem with Tescos when delivering..... however, l have had issues with their customer services who IMO are extremely rude and unhelpful. I've never had a good experience them !
