  • Thanks, jwil. The saga continues. The item is now showing as delivered - nightmare, the buyer only opened the dispute on Sunday! - but I didn't realise that once I'd appealed a closed case to eBay, I wouldn't be able to add any further info. This is the first time this has ever happened to me, and I so wish I'd stalled a bit; I had seven days to respond to the dispute and a further 45 days to file an appeal, but was trying to be helpful and respond promptly so it looks like I've shot myself in the foot and exhausted all my avenues of recourse completely within three days!

Still awaiting eBay's verdict on my appeal, though - fingers crossed they check the tracking status. Otherwise, I'll have to appeal to the buyer's better nature.

In happier news, I gave an elderly chap with a collection tin £1.30 for a poppy this morning, and felt good about money well spent. I'll let my nightmare buyer take care of her own karma; mine is A-OK. :A

Yes, indeed, you know you've got good karma.

If the tracking is showing as delivered, I would be getting on the phone to ebay and asking them to reverse the refund. Get in touch with them and tell them that the tracking is updated. That's out of order if they don't give you your money back.

Have you ever tried calling them? It's Mission Impossible. I did eventually get to speak to someone, but she was from eBay.co.uk, and said because the claim was filed at eBay.com she couldn't help at all. I am having no luck getting a number / Call Centre PIN for eBay.com at all and have actually come to the point where I've had to step away from it because I am so stressed and upset about it. :(

I've never known any company actively make it so difficult for you to access customer support.

Yes, I have, and it was a bit of a nightmare I remember. It's ridiculous. Hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

  • Still not sorted yet, but fingers crossed there's a glimmer of a chance they might rule in my favour. Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I realise I'm being very me me me on these boards - I tend to pop in when in the office as OH takes the chronic p*ss out of me for doing so at home :o - which doesn't leave much time for me to browse. Or even post really. Wish I could, though! I resolve to be a better MSEr and start reading other peoples' diaries for inspiration, rather than just yelling in the ether.

Mid-month update is looking alright: depending on whether or not eBay takes that £89 (which is rightfully MINE ) off me, I should either be ok or good at the end of the month. With all bill-type outgoings accounted for (including transport), worst case scenario is that I currently have £190 to cover groceries/sundries/entertainment for the rest of the month, including a weekend in Bath staying with friends in a couple of weeks' time that I'm really looking forward to.

My LoveFilm free trial has finished, but OH and I decided to keep one of the cheaper packages at £4 each per month since we don't have Sky or anything, and films on the TV are very hit and miss. So happy with that, and should have new discs waiting for me when I get home :T

In terms of my original challenge I've fallen behind a little, but I'm still determined to get back on track and knock that Halifax card under £2500 by the end of the year. OH owes me about £250, so hopefully he'll give me that within the next couple of weeks and, with a minimum payment in December, that ought to do it.

I've also set myself a Christmas budget, for the first time in my life. And I'm so excited about it! Haven't started shopping yet, but can't WAIT to. My 'spending' CC bill comes out on 10th so as of tomorrow I'm going to start buying on it (can collect airmiles, only spend what I've budgeted to pay off and currently at NIL), then clear it with my monthly £300 instead of knocking that off the Halifax BT card next month, like I planned. £300 will definitely be more than enough to cover it, plus the minimum BT payment for Halifax too. Phew.

I've started looking into Christmas holiday trains and, between seeing two sets of OH's parents plus mine - none of which live in London, where we are, or anywhere near each other either - that's not going to be pretty . Hopefully will get everyone agreed on a dates/times schedule over the next couple of days and book those on the spending card too, then I plan to make enough on eBay to square that cost away. Got to get back on that horse!

I find visiting other people's diaries really motivating, so you are helping people indirectly even if you are not directly posting on other diaries.

I really hope you get your ebay money back, it's not like it's just a fiver is it?

My DH is the same, - he says he sees too much of the back of my head when I'm at home, so I've tried to reduce the amount of time I spend on the computer when he's at home.

Hope you enjoy your weekend in Bath, it's a lovely place, I have family there and live not too far away!

  • I can't wait to see Bath. My friend moved away from London about three years ago and I've been promising to go visit ever since :o. She's one of my oldest friends though, from when we were at school where we grew up together oop north before we were career girls in London, so she understands.

As much as I adore London and it feels like home now, it's just so ridiculously expensive to even breathe here. I'm 28 and want to be in a position within the next few years to start thinking about starting a family (read: I'm broody as hell!), but it all looks a bit impossible at the mo. But I guess ditching £5,000 worth of CC debt did too, and I'm getting there.

Started my Christmas shopping yesterday. Got seven pairs of socks for OH for £12, really good quality ones, on offer, so I'm pretty pleased about that. Know he'll get his wear out of them. Christmas isn't Christmas without too many socks!

  • Added my Airmiles balance to my signature, which gives me something to smile about! I got a voucher for opening my 'spending' CC, then the rest is from Tesco Clubcard points - have added my new ones this morning. Hoping to get to Rome or Barcelona with OH for a few days next spring... Probably Rome, I've never been to Italy

Well done on the Christmas shopping and the airmiles!

I don't know how Bath compares to London, but it is hideously expensive too!
