Wow, that is great progress HP, well done!

Hope you are getting on with the ebaying, unlike me....

Thanks jwil! I managed to get the 8 items I had listed last week in the post and listed another 5 yesterday - bet you're beating that! 5 is my comfortable limit, though, I've realised. Slow and steady wins the race, and all that...

Really excited as I signed up for the Lovefilm free month's trial (via Quidco of course!) and I just got an email saying my first disks are on their way. And today, I discovered Tesco Value Toffees - 30p a bag. Oh happy money-saving day!

Just received the final £250 I was owed and zinged it straight off my Halifax CC - meaning that one now stands at NIL. One CC down, one to go, and total debt now under £3000. I couldn't be more :D

Well done on clearing the credit card and getting below £3000, I can't wait til I get to that level!

I did the Love film trial a while ago (got £15 cash back for it!) and was really impressed. I think I'll join properly once I've got through my backlog of dvds (probably almost as many as books :o).

I think 5 is a good number to have on ebay really. It's only because there is so much stuff that I have so much on there. It can be a right hassle.

Jwil, thanks for stopping by, as ever. Typical - we still haven't gotten around to watching the DVDs yet. So much good telly on at the mo :o

Just been having a little nosey around on the boards so thought I'd update here, too - though isn't it funny, when I'm feeling a bit anxious about money I'd rather not share, but I'm dying to when things are going right? Would be more useful to do it the other way around I suppose!

Nothing has gone drastically wrong. But since I started MSing I find that at this time of the month, around a week till payday, things start to get a bit close to the bone. I've been SO GOOD this month, but paying all those utility bills means it's gonna be close. I still have £35 therapists bill, £26 travelcard, £10 broadband and £37 eBay fees to come out before pay goes in  plus food, of course.

On the plus side: my sis is staying with us for a couple of weeks so that's a help with the food bills, and I just transferred £120 from PayPal into my bank. So fingers crossed, I should be covered... Just!

I'm the same, when things aren't going to well, I tend to quietly slip away. I'm trying not to though, when I'm debt free I want to read back and see how hard I worked to get there!

The last week before payday is always the worst isn't it. Good news about your sister staying though, and well done on those ebay sales!

Thanks, jwil! My sis and I did a 'big' Tesco shop yesterday (as big as it gets when you have to carry the bags home on foot!), and spent £38 on meals that will last up until payday, so I feel happier to have a bit more of a handle on my food budget for the week. It's still going to be close, but I guess that's good budgeting, right? No point in having money sitting around in my account when it could be going on the CCs!

I've read a lot of negative things about Halifax on these forums but I actually think that they're great - got another BT offer from them this week. I think I've decided to BT my MBNA debt onto my Halifax card, as it's 0% till the end of May (the MBNA 0% expires in March). I've considered trying to just get the debt cleared by March, but I'm not sure it's realistic... Don't want to sabotage myself. I'm going to run down the MBNA debt as much as is humanly possible before the deadline for the BT offer to minimise the 3% fee. Plus, I'd like to keep hold of my Halifax card, but have always been planning to close the MBNA one. So that'll be a positive milestone.

God, it feels good to be in control!

I haven't had any bad experiences with Halifax, but have had plenty with MBNA! I'd probably do the same as you. It would be good to say bye to MBNA forever!

I've just been paid but looks likely that I'll be an extra £89 out of pocket this month because of this eBay nightmare I'm currently embroiled in:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2831372

One step forward, two steps back. Even worse than losing the money, it's a beautiful designer item and I don't want this [STRIKE]pig[/STRIKE] person owning it. :(

Worst case scenario is that I lose the item and my money, through no fault of my own. But eBay is reinvestigating. Even if they do still rule in the buyer's favour, there's a chance I'll get the item back. Not holding my breath, though.

It's such a shame - I've been doing really well with eBay but this has really knocked my confidence.

Oh what a nightmare HP, that must be so frustrating. I hope you manage to get something sorted. I've posted to Canada many times before and never had a problem, so didn't realise at all how awkward the postal service was.

Don't let it knock your confidence though, ebay really is a good place to sell things and most people who use it are fine. If you think something is going to go above £41 in future, perhaps limit it to UK only or countries where you can get tracking to the door (more than likely using a courier).

Fingers crossed you get your item or your money back, and I would certainly be on to the buyer to make the payment again if it shows up as delivered.
