legend, thanks so much.0 -
as I actually read your posting! Yes your code for M991696 is the expected 4498.
So the next step , could the Audio guide be from a different car?
Best way would ( as always) remove radio from dashboard and check for sticker on the rear of the radio. If it still gives you M991696, you have a problem .
Buy a cheap radio one off ebay and request a number from here.
Thanks Scottishsapper and Wallbash. I was given the same advice from another source as well. Seems that the sticker in the Audio Guide is not linked to the actual stereo currently installed. Have now ordered the radio unit removal keys from ebay so I can take the whole thing out, check the serial number and try again!0 -

 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:eek:
a couple of thin screwdrivers or even an old wire coat-hanger and a bit of patience will get it out
Have a look at: http://www.fitaudio.com/index.php?CategoryID=13you should find your model there0 -
The radio SERIAL NUMBER is required for a code
First remove the radio from the dashboard.
Then post the radio make+model plus all the letters+numbers on any labels, barcodes or stamped in the metal casing.
This information can then be used to see if a code can be calculated
Thanks RegWorts. The only reason why I enquired first is that whilst I can find lots of posts where people have been helped when they have say a Ford, with a Peugeot, they say that the stereo is encoded with the vehicle's VIN.
Now whilst nothing has changed in my friend's car, if the answer is going to be - it's a Peugeot, you have no chance of getting a code - then I'd prefer to know that up front.
Is there a chance that someone could work out the code if its the same car stereo in the original Peugeot 307?
Thanks

Sorry....will only be available from the Main Dealer or the unit will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service to obtain this code
It will not be available for free or cheap from anywhere on the Internet
Thanks for your reply RegWorts.
Just curious to know why some CAR400 units can be decoded and the one I have is a dealer job.0 -
