Yes , the older CDR500 were made by /labelled DELCO (now called Siemens/VDO) and the code is not available for free

The correct Serial Number required should be 14 characters long (GM xxxxxxxxxxxx) and often found stamped in the metal casing

The most reliable option is to take it into a Radio Decoding Service ( such as your local Car Radio Store) where they will connect it to a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM) inside your radio using specialist software. They can usually do it while-you-wait and it will cost around £15
