This radio is from my girlfriend's car - a Nissan Almera 1.4 (R reg) - when I was helping her change the battery it caused the radio to ask for a code. The other problem is that I don't acually know how to put the code in... and the LCD display is slightly 'smudged'... would be great if you happen to know that too!

If you had read through a few of the previous messages on this forum BEFORE posting your VDO/ CDR500 radio code request , you would have seen this regularly posted reply.

Unfortunately the majority of SIEMENS/VDO codes (including your CDR500) will NOT be available for free (or cheap) from anywhere on the Internet as access is required to the original factory database…which is not commercially available..

Try your Main Dealer or a Decoding Service or your local Car Radio / Audio Shop (who are normally the cheapest option) who will connect it to a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM)
