I'd give your local Ford dealer a try. Some years ago I took my secondhand Mondeo, which I hadn't even bought from them, to Inchcape Ford in Farnborough along with the V5 document to prove it was mine. The guy in parts got me the code for free and even punched it in for me to ensure it worked. So not all main dealers are greedy.
