American express query

With the role I do, very few decline without having been referred - (bear in mind, I deal with existing customers who we want to keep...)

As per my previous post I see very very very few straight accepts. I'd estimate 3 or 4 in the last 6 months but I dont keep records.

FYI, I'm not going to discuss this any further as I dont want to risk giving out internal only info.

well , after trying my card out for a few days , i am very impressed with amex and their online system.

they have gained a customer for the foreseeable future and i will recommend them to anyone.

(and no , i arent a troll lol )

Amex approved me instantly for my BA Premium Plus card. It's all been downhill since then though. Approved and account opened on 17th Aug. 2 weeks later, no cards or PIN. I called them as i had some flights i needed to book urgently. The guy on the phone arranged to cancel the original cards and have replacements sent out and also got a temporary card issued from my local Amex office within 2 hours so i could sort my flights. Very helpful, though the now useless original cards showed up 2 days later and am still waiting for the replacements. I can only use the temp card online or over the phone so still not earning any miles on my petrol, shopping, etc.

I've just applied for a BA Amex (the standard card) and I got the "we'll get back to you in 10 days" as well, which was a little frustrating after the "60 seconds" claim!

I have one other card (Barclaycard Gold) which I've had for about 16 years, never been paid late and generally gets paid off in full every month (certainly has for the last couple of years). Household income over £100k, no debts.

I would think I'm a pretty good credit risk so hopefully all will be ok as I would hate to suddenly get a refusal on my credit file. I only decide to apply as I've finally joined the BA Executive Club (and am trying very hard not to think of the points I've missed out on from the many long haul flights I've been on over the last few years).

I held a Green charge card for about a year (starting late 2008), spent variable between £600 and £1400 a month on it, my income was mid 30's (now low 40's but not at the time) and I was immediate approved for the Plat Charge card a few months ago. Am I just lucky?
