Every recipe seems to be sponsered. Many Jar and Packet recipes!
I would rather use more ingredients then use jarred products from big brands... I make a lot of my own sauces and freeze so I can be lazy midweek and use them without always having to make them from scratch! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Absolutely! Just take it at your own speed, no point in running before you can walk. :AHunniBunni wrote: »I know, but for someone like me who is a bit of a novice in the kitchen at the moment its a good place to start!

Sorry if my last message can over harsh, I was just trying to say that you can make large vats of sauces at the weekend and freeze in batches, to help you do quick meals during the week.
Absolutly, Jars and Packets are much better then ready meals. That's how I progressed TBH. I used to live on Ready Made freezer food, then 8 years ago I moved to jars, then 5 years ago I moved to HM food, then in the last year I kicked that up a notch and I am very maticulas about what we eat...
Oh and in the last 6 month I learned to bake!!!!
It's all a progression, you have to take it one step at a time.We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

I once made a B+B pud with tea cakes which was lovely, so I imagine it would be like a spicy version of that.

That link doesn't seem to work for me tho.
The word 'recipes' in the original link had a typo - after changing that, the link worked for me...

I made teacake bread and butter pudding the other week too, after getting a bit carried away in Asda during the Magical Whoopsie Hour. Very nice it was as well, but it wasn't as rich as I'd imagine the recipe at the end of the link would be.
I made my recipe up on the spot (with visiting mother-in-law passing comments and staring on aghast as I did so!). I just cut the teacakes in two, spread them with a little butter and a little lemon curd ("Lemon curd? Surely you don't put that in!" Um, yes... looks like I do...) and then mixed half a pint of milk and two eggs with some cinnamon ("That's far too much!") and chucked it over the top of the teacakes before bunging it in the oven until it looked done. Mother-in-law did not indulge - she doesn't know what she was missing

Not sure why MIL should be agahst... perhaps if she was unused to working without following a specific recipe, but strange she should be so put off by lemon curd she wouldn't try it. Sounds lovely to me
